Does the shift flare tsb fix the shifting spikes that many of the owners here have stated? It would be great if someone could verify that the TSB fixes this transmission issue that many have discussed. Thanks
I would be very interested to know if the TSB fix works as well. I just took my V6 SE w/ 925 miles in yesterday for that exact problem. The onbly time I would get a spike in RPM was through the first and possible second cycling of the gears and it was always between 3rd and 4th, never experienced the problem when the engine was running at normal temps. The technician told me that he has seen the fix work, but it would be nice to be assured by members on this board that actually experienced the fix.

Don't get the TSB done if your car is not exhibiting the "shift flare", you risk ruining the performance of your car, that's just my 2 cents. Warming up the car seems to be the safest fix for some people.
None taken, If you have noticed, I live in Michigan not Louisiana. If I were to wait until my vehicle reached normal operating temperatures in the winter I'd have to sit in an idling car for about 10 minutes before I could drive anywhere, that is not how vehicles are designed/engineered to operate. The reason the TSB was issued is because the vehicle is not performing the way it was engineered to perform.
I would also like to here more input for the 4 cyl owners with at least 1500 mi on the car. Are you guys also having hesistation issues.
I ordered my 4cyl and it should be here tomorrow, but I may change my mind if this is a major issue. Most of my driving will be city so I cant deal with a hesistation between lower gears..
Can you tell me how warm/cold your car is when this occurs? I have an SE V6 and when I start out in the morning, I go through 2 shifts in my neighbourhood(not sure if it ever gets to 4th gear) before I enter a "high" speed street. When entering the higher speed street, the car has been running for about 4 minutes and the temp gauge has started to move. Never had the RPM spike and I have watched the TACH and counted shifts!
BUT, I live in CANADA where we have real winters and I guess I will have to wait until the temperatures get colder to see if I have the spike.
The tranny runs great and only a few rattles and the trunk lid needs to be adjusted which are minor.
Have a great day;

You very well may not be getting into 4th in your neighborhood. I have to speed to do it. Outside temp doesn't really matter, the engine temp gauge has typically been less than a quarter of the way from bottom. Hopefully you will continue having a spike free tranny. I was hoping that the problem would go away but it just didn't and actually appeared to get worse. Car is still at dealer, may be ready today. Will report back on fix.
