5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have been monitoring all forums in regards of Toyota Camry 2007 issues and I really do not know what to do. For the past 2 years I had a dream to buy a Toyota. Finally, we need to replace my car and I was set on Toyota Camry. I am a tall girl and my hubby is a really big guy so Corolla is not an option. We cannot really afford Avalon now so I thought to get Camry V6. But, after all that hesitation, transmission,…. Problems I have desided to postpone my purchase till the end October. However, reading all the posts makes me more and more concern.
There is an issue: no one can warrantee that even car action OK the problem would not occur after 4-6 years of driving. By that time car would not be covered in bumper-to-bumper warrantee and what then? Also, buying a car and being afraid to take it on the long trips because who knows what could happened- what’s a point to get a car then?
I know that problems may happened with any cars but still…
So, I am between options:
take my chances and buy Camry 2007 V6 and see what happened
lease 2003-2005 Camry for 1-2 years and let them work bugs of the system for 2007 one ( not too exited of this option, hate to waste money)
Go with other car.
Now, if #3, them I was looking into Nissan Altima V6. I am not really sure what are other cars out there in the same price range that are roomy. I need a car that would be with me for about 10 years and I do love Camry. So it is like shell I go with the other car but every time when I see Camry be upset or shell I give Camry a chance and there are big possibility that would regret it afterward and would be one of the angry posters here later on?
Well I don't have a 2007 Camry, so I cant say anything from experience but I do know Toyotas so I can give you my opinion from that. It seems that you really do want the Camry but you're scared from what you have heard. My advice is to go and test drive the Camry V6 and see how it feels to you. Knowing Toyota eventhough there may be a few things off now this car will last you forever, like I like to say....you can drive a toyota to death. The whole body may be gone but that engine will continue to bring you along. If you were to go with the Altima, the new Altima is coming out so that is prone to some issues also I'd think. After all is said and done I'd tell you to go ahead and get that Camry V6, Toyota has a long history of their reliability and also remember the people that have problems on here are just a very small number of people compared to how many people own the 2007 Camry. Regardless of all this babbling my vote is for you to go ahead and get the Camry, just make sure to test drive it and get a moonroof
Thank you for your response. I did test-drove it and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!
The thing is I have never had a new car in my life and currently driving 12 years old Mercury V6, I am for sure would not understand are there are any noises in the car because compare to the one I have- it would not be noticeable.
I fit in the car perfectly, my hubby is moderately comfy in it (as much as 350 pound guy could be comfortable in any family sedan) .
If I am going with the Nissan and I not buying 2007 model, only 2006. And since they are going to release 2007 soon I am kind of have 2-3 month of time to make my decision.
I do agree with you that there are always lots of bad feedbacks in all forums. The thing is that I am a “fighter” and I know that if there are something happened with the car I would be in Toyota’s throat till the death . The thing is that with the age I am starting to learn that if you can avoid those unneeded “waste” of energy, you better do so.
So, I love Camry that is the truth (navy color one) and going not with the V6 is not an option for me.
I was wondering, if I would wait till Christmas, would Toyota change anything or fat chance?
Go ahead, get the Camry, you wont be dissapointed. In my mind the more they produce the car the better it will get, so the ones that are being made I'd think would be better than the first batch. And is it really not allowed to have babies in the backseat of a 2door?
This is what I was told. In order to get baby from the hospital, you have to bring your car with the baby-sit on the back to the special center ( for the assessment). They are giving you a permission slip ( that car-sit is mounted properly and that there are no danger to a baby). They do not give sleep to any 2 doors cars. Without that slip hospital would not release baby.
I do not know why but buying a car not for 1 year I have to think about all that in advance.
If you don't want to risk it... the Accord is the next safe bet...
Otherwise, the Altima...
If you are thinking of the Accord, get the 06 instead of 07. It is "safer".
For low price leader, get the Sonata V6. Some $5000+ cheaper. It does not drive as good though. Or, look at CR-V or Pilot. You won't believe how low they are going for these days.
I'm only interested in cars with good crash test rating.
Remember the issues you read about here is a small % in compared to the total production. From my 6+ years on car forums and lists... that's my experience.
Granted there's always little things with a first year car. And for after the 3/36 the extended warranty is my piece of mind. BTW I was able to refund my original 7/100 ($1500) and buy the same warranty from Troy at Greenfield for $880.
So far 4500 miles and all is well. Few creeks etc., but I'll wait to get them fixed after THE official TSB's are out, so the dealer doesn't learn on fixing my car. The JBL sounds system helps masks the creeks! lol
Before getting the Camry on impluse pretty much (woke up one morning and said let's go buy a car) I was considering the Pontiac GXP with the DOD 5.3 V8. I wanted a sporty 4 dr and didn't want to shell out the bucks for the Charger SRT8.
If I had to do it again..... I would BUY the Camry again without hesitation. The only reason right now I would be swayed to buy the Pontiac GXP is the 0% deal they are offering. Oh the fact I have a pair of LS6 ported cylinder heads sitting around for the GXP helps too!
Yes i might be leaving my camry. My mom might keep it gotta restock it though. I am 19 man. I need some fun, which the camry cannot provide too well. I am looking into v8s. And the Cervini munstang seems the shit. If not that then a chrysler 300 saleen, roush or charger.
My family has always been a die hard american supporter. After four dismal GM's that never got beyond 50,000 miles (my alero was in the shop ten times before it rolled over 10,000) I opted for a change. My wife and her family had multiple GM's with the same dissatisfaction and then went to Toyota. In seven years they have had four corollas, one 4 runner, one tundra. Not a single one has seen a shop out side of the collision repair center. I owned a 98 honda accord for one year and loved it. Outside of my 2007 camry, it was my favorite. My personal opinion would be to test drive the accord, altima, and camry. Wait till October, and let the money be your final decision. All three will give you many years of pleasure. I do worry about having issues with a first year production, but extended warranties will help to aliviate that pain. Remember that if you don't use a extended warranty, then it is pro rated for a reimbursement. I recieved 700 dollars back on my aleros even after the usage. The other positive note about the camry is the resale value. My wife purchased her 2004 corolla the same time I purchased my 2003 alero. Both were brand new. The corolla came out to just over 18,000 for the life of a four year loan with interest. It was just valued at 11,880 for a trade in. That is a drop in value of 6100 for four years. Remove the interest and it is only a drop of 4200 over four years. My alero was a 25000 dollar car I purchased for 18 with incentives and a decent trade in from the honda. The worst decision I ever made. I only recieved a trade in of 6500 on the alero for the camry. That was a loss of 11,900 in four years for that loan. If you concider the starting value of the car, it was a depressiation of 18900 in four years. Lets do the math. The corolla depreciates 4200 and the alero depreciates 18900 in the same amount of time. The worst part about it, the alero is even classified as a nicer vehicle. in conclusion, I say go with the car that will make you happy at the end of the loan. The toyota should do just that. Otherwise, go with the accord. I traded in my five year old accord for 12,000. and it had over seventy thousand miles on it.
