Exclamation Couple of Questions + Concerns '02 Camry LE 2.4L L4

Ok so my mom just recently purchased a 2002 Toyota Camry LE 2.4L L4. The car has 61,000 miles couple of questions/concerns.

1.) The brake pedal seems to travel a bit further than usual and when I brake hard right before I come to a stop the brakes squeel for a quick moment. I also sometimes feel pulsation.

2.) With the A/C on "COLD" setting, recirculation, and the vent set to FEET or Down position. The position in the middle right after the Face only and Face and Feet only position. I BARE feel any air coming from the bottom vents I feel it coming a lot more from the defrost, and side vents on the driver and passenger side. The in cabin air filter was quite dirty, I cleaned it very thoroughly installed it and still notice very minimal air coming from the vents underneath the dash. Also with the fan setting on the highest when I switch from the feet only position to the face only position the air does not come out of the 2 center dash vents when I go to a lower fan speed or turn off the A/C the air comes out very strong.

3.) When I turn the steering wheel I hear a little whine it's very minute and it's originating from the gas pedal area, I can feel it around the black rubber housing right next to the gas pedal. Has no affect on steering or driveability, and power steering fluid level is fine.

4.) I hear a slight squeel, almost like a scraping sound while driving coming from the passenger side, when I brake it makes no difference in the level of noise, but the sound is consistent with driving.

Please help! Thanks!

Sounds like your brake pads might be almost done and you might have a warped rotor causing the pulsation. Pull the wheels off and inspect the brake pads.

Any input on the air condition question?

Yeah I'll probably just replace the front pads and rotors. Should I use only OEM or can I get them from any other vendor?

The rotors can be machined if there is sufficient material left. The pads may not be worn out either. It could be dirty or glazed over which doesn't require replacement.

For rotors, I recommend, Brembo plain face rotors or OEM. Pads: Go with OEM, Hawk Ceramic, or Akebono Ceramic. There are probably some other good brands out there, but these are definitely good to go and can be found at tirerack.com Just go with which ever ends up costing less.

The AC filter is supposed to be replace periodically, not just cleaned.

I don't know about your other problems.

The mode damper servo probably has died.

Hmm, the center vents are blowing it was weird last night switching from the highest position to a lower position.

When you guys have the vent on the "FEET" only position, do you feel a considerable amount of air coming from the vents underneath the dash on the driver and passenger side?

Just bought an 02 Camry LE. Had the same problem with no air flow when put on FEET position. Dealership confirmed and realigned vent servo's under dash & now there is plenty of air. 2-3hrs labor.
