5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hey guys, I have been looking at the forums for a bit now and I've decided I want a 2007 Camry V6 SE in black. Was just at the dealers and now I'm confused as to what I want.
I'm located in the sub-urb Detroit area, so the dealer told me that all V6 SEs that are shipped over here come with the sports leather package, JBL sound package, and some come with moon roofs. I was only going to spend around 24K on this car, but now it looks like it will come close to 27K.
The dealer did have one Camry that was driven buy a manager.. or someone, and it had 1400 miles on it. It's MSRP is 29,990 without the TRD 18" wheels. They want to sell that to me for 27500... is that a good price for a somewhat new car with 1300 miles on it already? The windows are already tinted all around with 3M tints.
I'm confused because the invoice price for that car is around 26075 without the rims. So I'm not saving much over invoice when you add in the rims. I've bought a 2001 Honda CR-V, 2004 Honda Accord, and have gotten both of them at around invoice. Is this typical that Toyota dealers won't budge much on the price or am I getting ripped off?
Originally, I wanted just a V6 SE with traction control and the rear spoiler added on. Now it seems like I'm going to be "required" to purchase the leather package and sound system.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

With 24K I would definitely get a camry v6. I personally would not buy a used vehicle and 1400 miles is quite a bit of miles. I would buy a new camry, that way I know how the car was driven. The fact of the matter is that you don;t know how the manager drove the camry. If he constantly accelerated hard for that many miles, you may have problems latter on since he "violated" the break in period of the vehicle. And you will never know.
Another thing is that the 2007 camry is a relatively hot car right now and it would be difficult to get invoice. Not impossible but difficult. And I don;t know about the vehicle distribution to your local dealership, but you can always order what you want. You are not required to take what they have. Of course you can probably price it down if it was a vehicle on the lot.
Hope this helps. have a great trip with your camry when you get it though.
thanks for the quick response. The dealer said they could "preference" the exact things I want and hope that Toyota makes one with the same configuration, but she said she checked nationwide and didn't find one that had rear spoiler and traction control added on.

Has anyone here gotten pricing at around invoice?
Check fitzmall.com and carmax.com for pricing/options.
I bought mine for $300 over dealer invoice 5 months ago. If I was going to buy one now I wouldn't pay over $150 over dealer invoice.
Did you check toyota.com, build your own with your zip code to see what configurations they come in?
$150 over invoice?? Try that around here.... it isn't happening.... I wish
Wrong! It would happen tomorrow if I needed another Camry.
They sell them all day, every day for $500 over dealer invoice (which isn't a bad price for the general public, but still negotiable) at Fitzmall in PA and NY. That's Northeast!!!!
If I was living in the Southeast, I would buy out of the area to avoid their extra charges and required worthless options.

yes I did check toyota.com, the least I can have on my car is aroudn 2000 package added on. I was wondering why it wouldn't let have the option of no packages. Does that usually mean that those are the packages offered at the dealers? I don't get why they can't sell stock V6 SE!!! Looks like I might have to get a V4 =(
oh... and I have NO CLUE about Rims... if I were to get similar rims to those 18" TRD ones that Toyota has on their website, how much would it be? They list the price at 1800, but I think that is marked up because its from the dealer. For 18"s, do I need new tires?
So I been goin back and forth to the dealers. The lowest V6 SE they could find for me has the sound system w/ Bluetooth, moonroof, and leather. I can't just get the V6 SE base with a spoiler. This is bugging me. I might have to buy another car. I don't want to dish out an extra 3 grand for sound system that I already have and a moonroof.
Supposedly, My dealer has been looking all over the US for one for me, but they all come with a combination of those 3 things included. *Sigh*
Try I4, not V4. The only V4's I've ever seen come on motorcycles - Honda and Yamaha.

My sticker price was 31,334.00 everything and I paid a bit under that with tax and lisense. I think it was like 31,100 or something like that.

I also made a specific order and the found one in the system that was similar to what I wanted and just put in the changes for the color, added the rear spoiler. I had to wait a couple of months. But if you are going to spend that much money I would make sure it is on what you want and not just settling for second best.
