I would recommend against an ECP

I own a 2005 Toyota Camry SE. This is my fourth new Toyota. I purchased an ECP plan with this car at a cost of $2400.00. I have been waiting since August 21st (today is Sept 14th) for a replacement sunroof that was damaged due to a dump truck loosing its load and smashing both my windshield and my sunroof. The sunroof was ordered on August 22ndand is still not in and is suppose to be in on Monday Sept., 18th.

In the ECP it states;

Vehicle Rental Assistance

ECP helps get you home even if your vehicle has to stay in the shop overnight due to the failure of a covered component.
  • up to $40 a day for a max. of 5 days rental
  • additional 5 days if parts are on back-order
  • up to $400 rental assistance per occurrence
I rented a car the day after the accident. The cheapest car I could get was a Honda Civic at a cost of $25.00 per day plus taxes for a total of $29.50 per day.

Toyota has said it is not a back ordered part and therefore refuses to pay the maximum $400.00 towards the rental.

THIS IS INSANE.

I have 58,500 kms on the car and I have not used the ECP to date. The ECP cost $2400.00. As I see it Toyota owes me $400.00.

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA AGAIN. NEVER.

Get a grip dude and be reasonable. First of all, the problem you are describing should probably be handled through your insurance and NOT ECP as it is not a defect or breakdown of the vehicle but an ACCIDENT that occured. You are lucky that ECP is doing anything for you at all!!

Second, ECP is NOT Toyota and does not reflect in any way the quality or integrity of the Toyota product.

Finally, it sounds to me like ECP is honoring the $400 limit that is actually statd in the agreement....what more can you reasonably expect??? If you want more rental car coverage I suggest you contact your insurance company.

P.S. Doesn't sound like you would be happy with ANY brand of car if this is the type of thing that turns you off of Toyota. Good luck.

I am going to agree with CanadianDad, this should not have been reported to ECP AT ALL and should have immediately been reported as an accident to your insurance company. Like CanadianDad said, you are very lucky that ECP is doing anything for you at all.
