Gen5 CAI 1MZ - The Cool Night

This is more of a rant than anything, but man. I stepped out tonight and boy was it chilly. Makes me want to do two things.......

1. Make me want a CAI

2. and to pump gas.

There is one question though. For those with the 1MZ, how and where did you route your CAI? I cleaned out my engine today, and i was looking. The only big space I see is if I route the intake going down *close to behind the transmission* and towards the rear of the car.

I don't really see any other possible spots unless i remove that white box that the old intake tubing was hooked up to?

i was thinking the best way would be to relocate the battery to the trunk and use that space to run it into the front bumper

to extend the battery wires.............how would i do that? Could i run the wires along the door sills of the car? sounds pretty complicated.

If i did relocate the battery, it would help a ton to route the intake

While I am new to the Camry scene, I have performed the battery relocation before. I will see if I can help.

For starters, you will need 3 pieces (2 long, 1 short) of 1 guage or 0 guage cable, a marine battery box, probably a battery cutoff switch and you may need to replace a cable on the starter relay, I am not sure about that.

The cable SHOULD be run outside the vehicle and away from fuel and brake lines.

Typically you will get the best deals buying cable from a welding supply company and you will have to install the cable end yourself. Not too hard, just need a propane torch, shrink tubing, cable ends and die electric grease.

A side benefit is if you install the battery on the driver side rear, you will get a weight shift that may improve the handling of the car. This being a counterweight to the driver weight up front.

Let me say this, be sure to ground the battery REALLY well or you will be chasing electrical gremlins FOREVER!

I hope this helps...

I don't know if it can help...but I want to be help
Here my DIY thread on SG
http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php?t=34705

I still got hesitation problem when I keep reving on the same gear example 70PHM in 3rd gear. Some say I've bad grounding connection....I think it could be more induction from my positive wire passing near other wire and sensor in the kick panel (near the left foot driver side).

What are you opinion on it ???
