5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I saw trouble the first time I heard the newer models had drive by wire. Using a sensor to regulate the throttle? WTF is wrong with keeping a simple cable in place, how could a sensor be better? What the hell do you do when your sensor goes out while driving? Sure can't use a shoestring...(I have done that, worked great, got me home)...could you wrap in foil like a bad fuse, lol. Gawd...our Tc is nice but my rolla is practically bulletproof.
Have you considered Altima or Accord? Why not, i did! I have a 2002 Camry and 2002 Solara and i like them and will be keepin em for a long time. But i say, when it comes to buying cars there's no such thing as loyalty at any price (why should there be? Its my money!) since you are leasing a car it probably has to be new so i'd consider something else than Camry! I have been reading post after post here about all the problems and issues they've been having, most un-toyota like! So i've already made a mental note to excuse 2007 Camrys from future consideration - like i said, its my money and if i wanted to buy a piece of crap with lots of problems, i'd buy a ford!
seriously id keep the camry on ur list....toyota is good about fixing teethin g troubles, and making good on their mistakes....i still think you cant go wrong....the way a new SE looks is enough to sell me on it forever....it just looks amazing
you also must understand, yahoo autos only polls a small fraction of select people, who most likely were polled to find failure....you have to look at a generalized poll of all camry owners to even come remotely close to finding the real percentage of failures and shortcomings for the car....statistically, its a bad sample
every car has its shortcomings...hell it took ACURA like 6 years to correct tranny problems on gen 3 TLs, and theyre still highly rated and best selling cars....its all about the company and how they handle the problems....
Even though I am having my trans replaced at 9,000 miles and has some rattles inside I still like my car very much. Many first year runs have some issues, but all in all I enjoy this car more than others that I have owned so do not let the issues bother you.

2nd gen TL's not 3rd gen.
At least they were trying Toyota hasn't shown that yet.
yeah acura was great about it....they took care of both the tranny issues on our 99 and 03 TL's, free of charge and we never had any issues....my dad has an 06 TL, and we love it....completely trouble free automobiole...much like my gen 5 camry....acura really makes great cars...i miss my old 97 TL and 96 integra every day
I had a first year 03 350z, started hearing about 5th gear grind on the six speed manual, at about 10k here came the grind. Had to have the trans replaced.
On a date I had to keep the radio turned up I was so ashamed of the rattles.
First year car blues...from all I'm hearing the current camry is good to go.
miniscule? i just began to read the reviews on Yahoo Autos. It seems like 90% are not satisfied. Shit, i would be pissed too if i spent 30 g's on a car and the car drove like shit. I can see why people are speaking out about it.
Thats because people only come online when they have problems with their car. Most of the people who talk about the transmission issue joined here after the fact, but as some people who were here BEFORE buying the Gen 6 V6, and see what they have to say.
Obviously people who don't have problems don't care to post about their car. It's a fucking camry we're the very few who like their car enough to forum about it. 99.9999999% of camry drivers just use their car as carefree transportation. Come on now.
