Aftermarket projectors & HID's?

not sure if its gen 5&6 related but i own a gen 5 so :p

I was talking with a friend of mine this weekend and the topic of projector headlights came up, and I mentioned I wanted to get aftermarket projector headlights (pretty much the ones you see on ebay) and install HID's. Well my friend had told me its not good to do that because the aftermarket headlamps will melt. Do any of you know if this is true?

thanks

Aftermarket projector headlights are definitely not designed for HID's. I agree with your friend 100%. That would be a bad idea!!!!!! The beam pattern would suck like a desperate prostitute and your housing might not be able to handle the heat.

Most of the guys on here will tell you that if you have a Gen 5, you should do a hid retrofit.
Check out this link to see what a hid retrofit is if you don't already know.

Your housing would be fine, but your beam pattern would be poop. Asside from the fact that those ebay headlights don't fit all that well either (just ask LE05). Just do a decent retro with OEM parts (TSX, RX330, S2000, e46, etc.) and you'll be much better off.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.
