Straight from the Tokico's FAQ on their website:
http://www.tokicogasshocks.com/faq/

"Q. Will other springs work with TOKICO shocks? A. TOKICO shocks are designed to work with original springs or a wide range of performance lowering springs. However, TOKICO shocks tend to deliver their best performance and ride quality when used with original or TOKICO springs."

EDIT: Oh, and uh... "personal preference" isn't a real' good basis for comparison.. just lettin' you know.
I specifically stated I would choose KYB over Tokico. I didn't say anything about KYB GR-2 over Tokico blues. You forgot that I also went with KYB due to the numerous great feedback from Newcelica.org members. The Tokicos have the least resistance to drops of all aftermarket struts, 1.25" max suggested by Tokico (all others are 1.5" max).

True, as long as your oem struts don't have very high mileage.

If you feel like your shocks are giving out on you already, I say replace them because it would be worse with aftermarket springs.

I just painted them myself with a lot of coats of "Racing Red" VHT high temp paint. A lot of people ask me if they're aftermarket

Yeah definitely replace them if you feel like you're gettin a bumpy ride. i saw this one camry on Youtube where the back was bouncing hard like hydraulics or something cuz the strut blew.
