Help needed in choosing the right shocks/struts for lowered camry
I just bought the Teins S tech lowering kit for my 02 Camry SE 4-cycl. Well i am about to install the teins which will give me a beautiful 1.7 inch drop in the front and 1.5 inch drop in the rear. I currently have 78,000 miles on my camry and as suggested i should change the struts as well if i am going that far to install the springs. Well so far KYB-GR2 shocks are the only ones i can find for my 02 camry, but the KYB's dont support drops lower than 1.5 inches. Well atleast it voids the warranty on the KYB's. What should i do now. I would hate for the ride quality get worse with the OEM shocks getting bad with the lowered ride. Any suggestions please from TOYOTA GODs.
the only struts i ever found were the KYB GR2's too........i wonder if Tokico will ever make any.
i was gonna get the Tein H-tech's b/c it'll lower it 1.5 in front and 1.0 in rear. it's in spec with the Struts.
Yeah i am aware of that fact, but the deal is that i had already ordered the Tein S techs. I got them today and was about to put them on before i realised that i may need to consider swapping the strusts as well and started researching. Well i guess i have to wait or maybe just put them on the stock struts. I hope my McPherson struts be able to hold up on them teins. TOKICO..!!! waiting on yall.
Also wanted to know if i need camber kit for my 02 camry since i am installing new springs and struts. I read some are just +_1 and some are +_1.75 degrees. What all that and which ones do i need if i have to.
You talking .2 inches, it's not even a 1/4 inch, just go with the KYB and be done with it.
After all is said and done, the new springs might not even lower it 1.7 inches in the front. Go measure some stock Camrys, I'll bet you'll find more then a 1/4 inch of variance in height on many of the cars.
Based on what? Tokicos are made for lowered cars. KYB GR2's are made as an OEM replacement.
Taj, don't worry about dropping it on stock struts. I've been lowered on stock struts for almost a year now, and I've had no problems, and my struts are still holding up just fine. Those people that blow their stock struts drive like morons.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

I choose KYB over Tokico based on personal preference and great feedback from the members of Newcelica.org, which is why my Celica is running on Adjustable KYB AGX. From what I read, Tokico shocks only perform their best when paired with Tokico springs, with most of their springs only providing a 1.25" drop. It even says it on their website.
Dude... this topic has to do with the GR2s. Why are you bringing the AGXs into this when they don't exist for the Gen 5 Camry, nor does KYB intend to create any? On the other hand, Tokico said that within the next half-year, they'll start production on a Tokico Blue line for the Gen 5.
EDIT: Oh, and uh... "personal preference" isn't a real' good basis for comparison.. just lettin' you know.
