5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hey guys, just curious as to what you guys thought about the BSMs (body side moldings) on the '07 Camry SE, based entirely upon the aesthetics. I am not in the least bit concerned about the other benefits that they may offer (my wife's car has BSMs double the size of the Camry's and she has more dings than I can count. lol).
Anyhow, I made a quick comparison page of an '07 with, and one without so that I could collect your opinions. I'm having a hard time deciding whether I like them or not.
Well in that car it looks good, because you have the lines from where the spoiler meets the bumpers, but I don't like it on the non SE car, Good for Toyota there, for making this optional....
I don't know if it would neccissarily fit nor even look good on the 07 Camry, but what if the BSMs were mounted lower on the doors and inline with the chin spoiler, similar to how the Acura CSX/Honda Civic mounts it? I don't know how functional they'd be, but I think it looks better. Clearner.

I don't think that they will fit right but It's a good idea, that way it follows the cut of the spoilers, It's a matter of getting blue painters tape and play around with the molding, before stick it permanently..

Great idea about the painter's tape. Actually, I was also thinking about adding BSMs, but ordering the parts from Australia or Japan, for their versions. Australia's Aurion and Japan's/china's Camry.
They are positioned lower than the N. American units and seem to have a clean chrome strip insert. That said, they would fit perfectly onto the N. Amican doors, since the doors are identical to that of theirs.

I like it! Was that a hybrid grille or an XLE grille? Let me know when you order from Australia.
That was the Australian Aurion, the Australian replacement to the Avalon, and the Asian spec Camry. The headlights are obvioulsy different (HID and have directional ability), the grill, and bumper. Integrated turn signals in the rear view mirrors, chromed door handles. The Rear has different rear deck, different LED tail lamps, and bumper.... ah, take a look for yourself.
I have an '07 XLE, and I like the BSM better on my car than without them. I followed the Toyota instructions exactly for placement of the BSM, so they may be higher than other cars, but I like them anyway.
I guess since it's my money, i'll spend it anyway I want. Now the mudflaps.....

The chrome is pretty cool, don't think I have a desire for chrome on my SE though.
The Asian market Camry's BSMs do not have the chrome insert, but are positioned lower, about a 1/3 of the way up the door. But definately not for everybody.
