5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I don't have a preium package sound system on my car, I have the V6 LE with the least options (except I do have leather ). I was playing the CD player the other day and heard a little vibration in my rear speaker (I think it's a 6x9). Now I conentrate on it all the time, it is really starting to piss me off a bit. I would like to keep the front deck in my car, because I think it's cool, but I was wondering what can I do to get premium sound with this rigging something together and calling it a sound system. Maybe my audio experts can tell me what I should put in my car to get great sound quality. My disclaimer, I don't want "Bang in my trunk", "Knock", or the "Soccer team in my trunk" I just want some nice sound to jammy gospel music and maintain "my sexy" if you know what I mean... Help ya boy out please.
are you more worried about getting that speaker fixed? or are you just looking to get a whole new system?
If you just want to get rid of the "vibration" and nothing in the settings works, then take it in since the car is still under warrenty.
If you want to upgrade, then thats a whole different issue. I currently have a 10in self amplified SAS Bass Tube in the trunk and it fits my needs. I get that extra bump without having the trunk rattle or anything. You can also upgrade the speakers to something better. That usually always changes how a radio sounds. And all this can be done without doing major modifications to the stock system. For my tube, all I did was run the power wire, remote wire and tapped into the back speakers for a signal. thats it. and this tube gives off alot of bass if turned up all the way. Oh and it takes up less space in the trunk then a box with a 10 or 12 in it.

Don't you want some boom boom to go with the bling of your chrome grille..that's how you roll in H-Town, right?

but to explicit, I was thinking about changing out the speakers to possible infiniti's and runnig all my speakers to a 4-way amp, with a possible small 10" subwoofer in a tube. What do you think?
if you have the JBL upgrade, then I'm not sure. If I'm not mistaken, the upgrade includes an amp already, not sure how that will affect anything if its removed or used in conjunction with another amp. Maybe someone who has had a upgrade and switched out would be able to tell you. Or even those familiar with the system since I have the basic radio. But a 10in tube is fine..upgrading the speakers will just give you a crisper sound..depending on the speaker itself.
oh I thought you had the upgrade...in that case, then an amp powering the interior speakers plus a self amplified tube would be good. Thats the setup I had in my Corolla and you could hear me from blocks away..lol. I had one cop tell me, "I heard your system clearly from 4 blocks down, turn it down a bit." lol. thats when I was younger tho and thought it was cool to bump the system around town.
I have the JBL system and i must say im impressed with it highs mids and lows can be adjusted. It hits the lows pretty well but i would think a sub would be a nice addition but nothin that will drown out the mids and hi's. Im lookin at gettin a small self powered sub for some more oomf to the system but the 8 speaker system is great. Way better than my last system which cost almost 900 bucks. I might add the JBL system hits well enough that my driver side mirror shakes and my rear view mirror shakes(vibrates).
I have the same originals with you. And I suggest you replace all the speakers with pioneer 6X9s (all 4 the 2 on the dash is for highs only) and you will see(or hear ) the differance. And if you still dont like it you gey a new head unit and still have nice speakers

This is second post that caught my interest. It's funny that your the same person who asked about the grill. Have you heard of the JL Audio "Clean Sweep?" I used that for my Accord because I wanted to keep the factory deck. It work really good. Check out the site and read up on it. http://www.abtelectronics.com/product/19995.html
