Go to Elmhurst Toyota... I got the same song and dance mid-sept, they were the "low-bullchit leader..."
Compared to the CE, LE and XLE the SE is limited in numbers. It makes sense too, because there's a lot of differences between the SE and the other trims, whereas the other trims are basically variants of one another.
FWIW - In a metro area like Chicago, we have a lot of competition based on the population density. If you won't pay it, then someone else will and the SEs stand out big time against your run of the mill CE, LE, XLE. Naperville Toyota was the worst, Joliet cannot be trusted and this is my 3rd car from Elmhurst... I paid a little more over invoice than I wanted, but I also had a trade involved so I can't equate my experience to yours. It would appear that if you got a v6, Moonroof, leather, JBL, TRAC/VSC and floormats for $27.5-$28ish this is about $1K+ over invoice but still considerably less than MSRP which on mine was $29,954
I wouldn't pay more than $200 over dealer invoice.
Fitzmall.com sells them everyday at $500 over dealer invoice.
What, no "owner's manual" comment on that one?
My BR SE V6 listed for about $25,600, I got it for just under $25K, but mine has hardly any options on it (no nav, leather, sunroof or anything like that).

MSRP on my titanium silver SE V6 was $31,087. I used the Costco auto brokerage service to get a no haggle price of $28,400. The car has all options other than nav. This is in Oregon btw
wow you got a bareboned v6 se??? whats the reason to even get a new car if you get no options. did you even get power windows? jk
Hey, it's got floormats and the cool navigational mirror...
Sure I could have gotten a fully loaded 4 cylinder SE (and no offense to those here that do), but I had to have the V6 - that to me was the most important thing, I wasn't going to get a new Camry without it.
I can live without leather, I can live without a navigational system I'll never use anyway, I can live without the bluetooth system (I'll just use my cell phone if I really need to call someone)... it's got enough bells and whistles for me, and I've got a can of whoop ass at my beck and call if I need it when those obnoxious Bimmers and punk kids with their jacked up Mustangs try to challenge me.

I'd like to see a picture of this car, if you can post it, that would be cool!
I live in the Chicago area as well. The short of story is that there are 200 dealerships who want the Camry SE V6 and only 60 allocated to this area per month. The best I was able to do was about 1200 below MSRP because the dealer (wilde) does such high volume that they don't mind sacrificing a bit of profit to keep the volume flow. I also found out that Toyota is only building the SE V6 in one configuration for the near future which is basically the "F" package for this area. So if you want a custom vehicle, it will be about 4-6 month wait if not longer. This is coming from a personal friend who sells these vehicles. They usually sell for about 800 over MSRP, but the demand is so high that they just can't do what they normally do (his boss won't allow him to go lower). Also, all cars were "on order". Toyota totally dropped the ball on the SEV6 demand.
How I got mine was taking the vehicle the "store manager" had with about 2200 miles on it. I would have waited for the exact version of the car I wanted, but my previous vehicle couldn't swim and drowned. I really wanted the "I" version. I'm hoping I’ll eventually be able to install the "- Sport Convenience Package includes: HomeLink® Universal Transceiver & Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror w/Compass [14] (QB)" as a separate with abit of effort (hoping they left the harnesses there for the power needed). The navigation system I’ll have to do separate...just not sure I want to lose blue tooth control of the steering wheel
Is it just me, or if you go try to build a Camry SEV6 on the official toyota website are the option packages DRASITCALLY limited. I went there a few weeks ago and there were tons of option packages, now you can only add VSC and NAV.
:O
This would go right in line with what the previous poster just said.
