Gen6 Upgrading rear view mirror

Right now I have a Camry 2007 SE with a sunroof. Since I bought my vehicle after the Camry SE got hot, my options were limited. I was able to get the sunroof but not the mirror/homelink.

I looked at a few of the Gentex and pretty impressed with them.

I've gone through a few previous threads about rear view mirrors but have a question. Does the Camry w/o the "auto-dimming" rear view mirrors still the wiring there to tap into? I can feel the "notch" where the wire would normally go in/out but before I start tearing apart the roof of my vehicle, I would like to get a bit of confidence. Anybody know anything?

All you need is power and ground and you have a sunroof so tie it in.

Use the search function!!!!

I DID!!!! If you bothered to read what I wrote. However, sometimes the words I search under and the words "you" search under may not give the same result.

Was able to finaly find more information by removing the word "rear" from my search. Does anybody have any details on how to remove the overhead console or easily access the wiring from above.

It's ok, standard answer would be either "Use search engine" or "it's covered in manual, read your owner's manual". That's very helpful for everyone.

Here you go.

Found those threads after I modified my search, still does not cover how to remove the overhead console to access the wiring. I'm trying assess whether or not or when I want to do this.

ok...I only skim this forum on occasion and I caught your thread.

Yes, it is VERY easy to install a new mirror.

To remove the overhead console ---

Slide a flat stiff object under the lip closest to the windshield and pull down.
There are 2 clips that hold that end in. Pull hard enough and you will disengage the clips.
The rest of the console swings down and out away from the windshield.

That's it!!
