Low Tire Pressure Indicator Reset FYI

Afternoon fellow Gen6'ers. Just thought I would pass along this quick gem of information I learned the other day.

Saturday afternoon I noticed my dashboard had the "Low Tire Pressure" Indicator light on.. its the on on the bottom right side of the display that looks like a squished ball with an exclamation point in the middle. Sorta like this: ( ! )

Anyway, called the dealership and they said it could be (a) one of the tires was low, (b) the spare tire (if its a full size) could be low in the trunk or (c) it could be a sensitive sensor do to weather change. As far as I know, none of the Camry's have full size tires so option (b) is out. I grabbed a tire pressure gauge and checked all the tires. All showed nearly full and within limits for the tire rating. I also checked for a nail in the tires since that could be slow leaking. (For those that don't know, the best way to check for a nail hole other than finding the nail, is to soak the tire in soapy water. If there is a hole, you will see bubbles form)

Definitely no nail or leak. So the only possibility is the weather. Texas weather is always unpredicatable, but this year we hit Fall weather like a brick wall. It was 85 and sunny Friday, and by Sunday morning the mornings were 56-60! And of course with tempature change, comes tire shrinkage. My tires were down 1lb to 2lbs of air from the air contracting in the tire.

All you need to do is fill the tires back up to the reccommended level (check the tire.,.. varies based on size and type of tire) Once you are sure they are properly inflated, open the glove box. On the left hand side, inner wall of the glove box, behind the plastic lip of the actual glove box and the wall, near the front you will find a button. Hold it down for 10-15 seconds and the indicator light will flash. after 4-5 flashes it will go away! All reset. Just saved you a trip to the dealership. You're welcome. lol

I will also add that you have to reset the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) every time you rotate your tires. Don't let anyone charge you to have it done, it is a SIMPLE procedure to reset. It's right in the Owner's manual under TPMS.

Hi Wiz, maybe there is another step or two missing or assumed... My issue is that the lamp is blinking, I adjusted the tire pressure. I next pressed and held the reset button until the lamp blinked three times but at a much slower speed. After that mode the tire pressure lamp went back to blinking at the faster rate. Releasing the button and then press and hold, the lamp started blinking again but at the slower speed... I don't know what next to do. As originally, the lamp continus to blink at the faster rate. 2007 Camry

A flashing TPMS light indicates a malfunction with the system or one of the sensors.

I set my TPMS at 30 and tire pressure at 35-36-makes ride nicer too.
even if pressure will drop 1-2 lbs becouse of weather, light will stay off.
