5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have 2007 Camry LE 4 cylinder, automatic transmission.
I set air intake selector mode to RECIRCULATE, fan spped selector mode to OFF, temperature selector mode to MAX A/C or one step up, and air flow selector mode to PANEL (picture shows that air goes to FACE).
The air intake selector mode was suddenly changed to FRESH from RECIRCULATE while I as driving. I know that the air inatke selector mode changes automatically when air flow selector mode is set to WINDSHIELD for the purpose of clearing the front view. But mine is not the case. Do you think the new Camry monitors air condition of inside and automactically change it? Is there any body who experiences the same thing?
Actually the user manual says that "To prevent fogging up of the windshield, the air intake mode may change automatically to FRESH depending on the condition of the air conditioning system" on the page 248.
Even though I switch the mode to RECIRCULATE, it changes to FRESH again later.

Thanks for reading this.
Before Njerald beats me to it... If you would have read a little further, you'd see that you can override the 'system' by holding the button for 2 seconds or more.
Thank you, onsknht. I'll try it when I go back home tonight.
Hope it works for you... I'm coming out of a Sequoia with AUTO climate... This new Camry with MANUAL controls was disturbing at first, but I'm getting the hang of it. Apologies on being a smart-azz, but you prolly haven't met Njerald yet.

Open owners manual and turn to page 248
Or, better yet, login to Toyota Nation, post thread twice, and wait for replies
To prevent fogging up of the windshield, the air intake mode may change automatically to FRESH depending on the condition of the air conditioning system.
If the ambient temperature drops, the air intake mode will automatically change from RECIRCULATE to FRESH after a few minutes. This automatic change control mode can be cancelled by pushing and holding the button for longer than 2 seconds. The automatic change control mode will be reactivated if the ignition switch is set at ACC or off.
Air is still coming into the car even when fan is “off”.
I was not able to post this for 2 days. I guess forum is woriking now. Well, this is my problem:
Air is still coming into the car even when fan is “off”.
When it was cold this did not bother me as much because warm air coming from heater which I had turned on. Now warm air is coming in and I have no desire to put on the AC . I did close airflow vent that is on the left from the driver’s seat. However, the one that in the center (on top of the radio) is not closing.
I did not have problem like this in my previous car. When the fan is “off” there were no air coming to the car. Am I doing something wrong or is it just the way car build?
In some conditions, the recirculate will turn itself off. You'll need to hold it down for about 5 sec to override this "feature."
hmmm.. didn't know you could override it... i thought it switched automatically so the engine heat can be transfered out of the engine bay, lowering the temp...
