Gen5 hids are nice. but what about your 9005 highs?

ok, so i put 5300k 9006 hids on the 5th gen camry and they're great. i currently have nokya yellows for the 9005 highs and now they're pretty much weaksauce and almost non-existent in output when compared to the hid's output (no surprise i guess with a yellow bulb vs. white hids lol). well, i'm considering upgrading the high beam 9005 once again since i do want practical high beams to light up the empty 101 highway at night (it's pretty damn dark between berkeley and santa rosa even for the best oem hid setups).

so what would be best for 9005 high beams?

i'm not really fond of the idea of going back to the oem setup- regular sylvania 9005 (friends don't let friends drive stock anyways right? lol). and i'm also trying to avoid silverstars because of a bad experience with not-so-good output. on the other hand, i'm willing to try the xtra-visions from sylvania (if they're better than the oem regular 9005), philips xtravision, ge nighthawk, or even something new.

anyone with experiences or suggestions?

Well, I can guarantee you that if you do a retrofit, you won't need to use your high beams to see the road.

But that aside.. you can always use HIDs for your high beams as well.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

Well first off. 5300 k halogen doesn't mean its at 5300 k...just correlates to color temp not output. As far as halogen, you wont get much better than stock IMO. I would jump on the silverstar 9005's or some piaas. But with HID, in most of CA i would assume high beams aren't that necessary. PLus when you can't see...that means to slow down, so you can take advantage of the road that is lit up with your lows.

I live in Mississippi and we have long dark country roads. lol. Therefore, my highs come in handy from time to time. The 9005 stock bulbs IMO are pretty bright and still hold their own if aimed properly with HIDs. They give me good strong light right above the cutoff. I would imagine that the nokyas would do similar but just look a strong yellow instead of yellowish-white.

Do you have hid projectors retrofitted?

nope. just a rebased 5300k hid kit. lol.

seems like i should put back the stock oem sylvania 9005. ok. thanks for your help guys!

edit: more pushing to do a retrofit from whitechocholate. haha. i thought i'd get that. anywaiz, trust me- it's in consideration.

btw, i live in north-north california 2 hours north of san fransisco- i miss the highly lit roads of socal- we don't have a lot of lighted highways over here, nevertheless lighted freeways.- especially in the 101 north and south of santa rosa.

i miss socal. haha.
