5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Does your Gen 6 Camry has this problem? One of my rear doors won't close tight easily. I have to give it a little push to make sure it shuts tight. Otherwise, it bounce back a little and just won't close shut. This is an anonying problem for me because I use that door a lot and half of the time I have to close it a 2nd time, usually with my hands full. I don' t have the problem on the rear door of the opposite side.

You need to beat the air pressure inside the car when the door closes... To lazy of a push and they all dribble.
Judging by your writeup, this door is being closed most often when you have your hands full, whereas the other doors are closed empty handed... In my experience, that's just when the door refuses to close.... When my hands are full.

Can you guys try this? Open the rear door to the first stable positiion. Give it a little push using two fingers so the door close slowly and tell me if it bounces back? For me, it is almost bounces back 100%. On a Honda, it takes a bigger force to move the door but the door always closes. Like the front doors.
i gave it a "little push" and mine didn't latch, but it didn't bounce back
I probably man-handled the door - maybe my littleest push was too strong... it is very objective - you push could be with more/less force than my push or some other guy's push - my best suggestion is for you to go to the toyota dealer this weekend go into the showroom - try to make your way to an 07 camry without beign harassed by atleast 3 salespersons & try to give the same push to their back door as you do to yours...and lets go from there

All my doors close just fine, actually close smoothly and tight. Although I had a problem with my drivers door, it didn't line up with the rear door! If you look in the driver's side outside mirror you can see it was off by 1/4 to 1/2 inch! I brought it back to the dealer and the service manager came out and adjusted the door. It's still not perfect but its close, he did warn me that the door would be a little harder to close, I didn't see a huge difference.

Sorry to bring this thread back to live. I was at the dealership doing oil change and I tried their showroom SE. The difference is day and night. The doors practically closes itself like there is a magnet. I would definitely ask the dealer to fix it next time I bring it in for service. If your door bounces back, you should too. I don't think the air pressure plays a role here.
