Gen5 maintenance required light blinks

hey guys i just recently noticed that when i start my car, the maintenance required light blinks 5-6 times and then turns off. i read in the manual that means that most likely my oil needs to be changed and i changed it today but it still blinks. has anyone else encountered this? and if so, what does it mean and how did u get rid of it?? TIA

Randy

When you had your oil changed the technician didn't rest the light. The light comes on and blinks about every 4500 miles and stays on at 5000 miles. The purpose of this is to remind you that it is time for an oil change. So, just take it back to your dealer and they will reset it for you.

Yah, it just happened to me again the other day.

I'm almost positve that it is related to miles between oil changes. At least that is what it says in the manual, if you don't do anything about it it will eventually become solid. But its only happened to me twice and I've changed my oil more than twice.

but to clear... with key in off position and odometer in overall milage mode (not trip a or b) hold odometer reset buttom down while turning key into on position (not far enough to start engine) the odometer will show bars in the position of the numbers and slowly count down to no bars and clear the message then the light will go away.

it hould tell you in the maunal, I just did it 2 weeks ago and that is where I got the procedure.

You can waste your time taking it to the dealer or read your Owners manual and do it yourself in 5-10 seconds.
