5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
No offense but if you need to have that much room you should buy an SUV. I live in Colorado and I'm an avid snowboarder. Even with a full car of people and 4 snowboards I have enough room.

Think about it, you can't use that feature if you have to carry passengers or children in the back. I agree with Evan215.

Next, I see your point on the size... I afterall came out of a Sequoia into a Camry. But have you ever seen a 1/4 scale piper cub wing? Admittedly, the Impala is a bit overkill with the folding seats... I'm not looking to haul gravel, but it would be nice to be able to shove an 8 ft object that weighs a pound or two into my car.?.?.?
I think this feature was meant to sell the Impala as a cheap alternative to SUVs and trucks for people who's in need of extra space but is on a budget.
I don't know about the rest of you, but if I ever have to drive in the backseat of my car, I'll sure be glad I sacrificed the folding seats for Reclining REAR Seats in my Camry!

I was kind of bumped when I tried to fold the back seat in my XLE to carry a safety net for my son's bed....When I got the car the guy show me a model and folded the seats, so when I got mine, I saw what it seems to be an oval opening in trunk, so I didn't think that it didn't have it...Well I found out last month, hahaha, having folding seats like the impala It's always good, you never know when you can need it, but the XLE only have the little opening for skies and that's it, anything a little bigger that the little opening and go find a friend with car with folding seats or a SUV........
I'm with pillpusher84 -- I easily and profoundly prefer the reclining rear seats (PLUS the body-strengthening v-brace) in my XLE over a folding rear seat. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I've had folding rear seats for YEARS in other cars, and never used them once.
The reclining rear seat is a joke. I'd rather have the fold-down ones anyday. If you're long legged like my family you feel like you're on a birthing table. My son's G35 is a prime example even he had to admit it! Better to have something practical like the fold-downs.

How could you compare the Camry with G35? The back seats of G35 are not seats. They are TORTURING EQUIPMENTS. I've been in that chamber for a 5 minutes ride and I swear I would rather walk then getting in that space for 1 second.

Camry has noticably more room than the Impala and both are larger than a G35?
As mentioned earlier... I'm not looking to haul gravel, but it would really, really, really be nice to fit a "long" not necessarily heavy, but bigger than 6" x 6" in diameter object into the car once in a while.
FWIW - what's the obsession with Infinity? I've always looked at Nissan as being the equivalent of Chrysler when talking Jap-Jammers?

Get a removable roof rack.

Not quite Lexus in alot of ways, but Infinity isn't too shabby either.

I'm not trying to be defensive ... but do you have them? No... Have you sat in them? They are very comfortable ... I think you need to give 'em a try - you'll fall in love too!
As far as carrying anything ... as you can probably tell from my other posts I'm 150% anal when it comes to the car - cleaned 2x a week waxed every other month ... I will never cart stuff around in my car ... even if I had a fold down seat I wouldn't use it because i don't like to put anything in the car, especially over-sized stuff
Your're just begging for somehting to press or indent on the interior ... not to mention potential scratches and whatnot ... so thats where my father's truck comes in ... if i ever need to haul anything he's got the pickup - just swap cars for the day or whatever!

I've sat in them and they're no more comfotable to me than the G35's. I road tested and sat in every seat in every car on my list. Honda Accord, Nissan G35, Chevy Impala, Mitsubishi Galant and Toyota Camry. They should call them sliders instead of recliners cause they don't recline, they slide down and out with bad back support!
