Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Does anyone know anything about the "special edition" camry's body kit and if they are purchasable from Toyota or somewhere else? Ive seen one around town and i was just curious. It doesnt look like any of the other aftermarket kits ive seen and i didnt know if it was available from toyota.
a pic would of the car with the kit that your talking about would help. but i don't think you did take a pic so i'll be guessing. There is a OEM lip from toyota and there a aftermaket lip kit make by vizage. but no OEM body kit there are all aftermarket
Not even and option. Dealers were delivered 1 or 2 per lot (at least in S.D., CA) and that was it. Here is some pics of mine before I lowered it with TRD springs and changed the rims.
I now have no wheel gap in the front and the rear lip is below tire level. Also, the new rims have only +38 instead of the stock +50 offset so my tires are just clearing the fenderwell lips by about 1/4" now.
One of the confusing factors involved is the fact that you folks in FL, AL, GA, SC are under the umbrella of vehicles sold through one of Toyota's "private" distributors. SET
South East Toyota (your private distributor) puts a lot of non-Toyota crap on the vehicles and calls that version "special edition" to make more profit on the car before it's forwarded to the dealer for sale to you. There are a lot of cobbled up LEs and CEs that have Enkei alloys, Katzkin leather seats and other aftermarket goodies on the vehicles before they are shipped to the dealers. This can be a nightmare after a few years or if you move above the ALabama state line, where the cars come directly to the dealers from the factory.
It's aftermarket and not OEM (original esuipment Manufacturer) equipment, so some of us outside the distributors sales area don't get the same "port installed" upgrades you guys are sold. We also aren't forced into paying for the $700 Toyogard plus paint and fabric sealant packages the distributor puts on the vehicles and the "factory" window stickers either.

Anyone know if these are still available for sale by dealers or online? What are they made out of?
