Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Anyone know how to stop that dinging noise that alerts you that your passenger is not wearing their seatbelt when they get in the car? Any way to turn that sensor off for the seatbelt yet keep the airbag on?
Why not just wear the seatbelt?? And why would you still want the airbag?? I hope you don't think the airbag alone will help you if you're not wearing a seatbelt.
Here's the law requiring it in Mass...
"Any person who operates a motor vehicle without a safety belt, and any person sixteen years of age or over who rides as a passenger in a motor vehicle without wearing a safety belt in violation of this section, shall be subject to a fine of twenty-five dollars. Any operator of a motor vehicle shall be subject to an additional fine of twenty-five dollars for each person under the age of sixteen and no younger than twelve who is a passenger in said motor vehicle and not wearing a safety belt. The provisions of this section shall be enforced by law enforcement agencies only when an operator of a motor vehicle has been stopped for a violation of the motor vehicle laws or some other offense. "
Granted they can't pull you over for the seatbelt, but what's the reason, too cool to wear a seat belt?
My annoyance comes from something (laptop, groceries) in the passenger seat causing enough pressure (weight) on the seat to trigger the sensor. To turn of the dummy bells, ask the dealer can do it using the computer.

Yeah that's where my annoyance comes in too. Groceries or a 12 pack, etc... will set it off. Also some people don't like to wear the belt, and I'm not about to make them. I will bring it to the dealer, I have an appointment to get the seal on my left headlight inspected so I will ask them about it then.

Heres your solution:
Groceries - put them on the floor board or in the trunk (the trunk as this great little tray on the drivers side thats the perfect size for 2 gallons of milk)
Beer - Refer to solution for groceries
Passenger - Nut up and tell them to wear the belt. Its not that "uncool."

How about I turn off the dinger, because I freakin' feel like it

Oh yeah, forgot that solution..... lol. I think i read somewhere where someone did get that dinger turned off but the dealer charged them like 50 bucks to do so. I dont know about yall, but id rather keep the 50 bucks and just use one of my suggested solutions.
Brandon...I recall asking how to turn the dinger off, now where ELSE I can put my groceries or beer. Do you have nothing better to do than read posts, and rather than offering helpful advice, be an asshole instead? It's pricks like you that ruin forums. If you want to answer a question fine...but do you think I was looking for a smartass answer when I posted my question?

The Dinger thing in my car goes off after like 60 seconds. Does everyone else keep going off? I know the little guy in the dash flashes over and over and that doesnt go off but i dont even notice it. So does everyone else dinger keep dinging as long as they keep driving?
The dinger does go off after about 60 seconds, but who wants to sit there for that long while it dings. The passenger is always like "is my door open?"..."no, it just dings until you put your seatbelt on, or it will go off in about a minute"

I guess it doesnt really bother me that much, usually my music is up so loud i dont even hear it. If someone asks i just tell them to either put their seatbelt on or it will go off in like a min.
