Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Has anyone looked into DVD-Player solutions for the 2007 Camry XLE? I am looking to keep my existing head unit, but get some LCD screens and a DVD player. Maybe 2 mounted in the headrests and one somewhere else but Im not sure what the best solution would be. I've seen those pre-installed head-rests but they look cheap as hell and will never match the interior just right. I know you can have them installed but I have had some installs go pretty bad in the past so I am a little leary to have another one done. I'd LOVE to see some pictures of someones install and talk with them about the details. Thanks all, I love this forum, I just found it today and am already addicted.
*Edit: I found this while searching on ebay for "2007 Camry" + DVD, and they can NOT be serious. How would that little plastic $600 piece of crap look in a brand new 2007 Camry XLE with grey leather interior? If anyone reads this post and thinks of recommending that, do us all a favor and trade in your 2007 Camry for a PlaySchool - "My very own first car"

Ben,
Not sure about this specific one, but someone on this board has a center console set up just like that and the pics looked pretty damn good, IMHO.

Im sorry but i agree with Ben, that setup looks cheap and doesnt flow with the interior like it should. Ben, if you buy that and install it in your XLE baby jesus will cry and kill a kitten......
Take a look at it installed in this thread. Like I said, I don't think it is the same unit (brand, quality, etc...) since it is supposedly a Toyota South East part (Part#00016-32043)but it doesn't look bad here:
Thanks wireless! Does not look AS bad as it looks on the ebay auction, but still not something I would want taking over my center console. I am looking into headrest solutions, I don't want the ones that mount on top of the headrests, but the ones that mount IN the headrests. My only concern is hiding wires. If there is anyone here that does this in MA, or CT let me know.

I know Toyota dealers offer a head rest solution. They replace the OEM headrests with new ones that have the screen in them. I think the manufacturer is Invision Industries. I saw them at my local dealer this morning. No wires to worry about on those.

I would love to have something that I can use only when I go on a trip (like twice a year, haaha) my son has a DVD player already that I hang on the back of the seat and it moves, it's really shitty. So I was thinking on getting a 10" monitor just the monitor, or 1 headrest with just a monitor bigger than 7"...I went to Invision Industries and the don't have one for the 07 Camry. I know there is a universal bracket, anybody experienced with this??:http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/74108/HB1.html or this: http://cgi.ebay.com/52-UNIVERSAL-HEA...QQcmdZViewItem

Now that would be nice. Again though, i think that center console deal does not look good. Granted, the picture you posted looks way better than the one on ebay, but it still doesnt look very promising. Now a stock headrest replacement with a socket for a monitor, now that sounds nice. I'd love to see that. Might look into something like that too, as my kid loves his elmo and blues clues.
...I went to Invision Industries and the don't have one for the 07 Camry. ...
As I assumed, the Invision Industries webs ite jsut isn't up to date. I asked, and here is the response...along with the contact info:

Thank you for your interest in our product.
I do have Dark Charcoal and Ash leather systems for the 2007 Camry.
Please feel free to call me if you have any questions.
Thank you again,

We had a rep come to my dealership a couple of weeks ago selling this product. The one that we are now selling $1000 installed does not work with the XLE. For me I liked the headrest DVD's better.

I assume you were referring to the center console unit that the rep was selling and didn't work with the XLE...

Thanks wireless. The setup from Invision Industries looks pretty good, but in my case since I already have the dvd player I whould like to have just a monitor in the headrest and also I don't have leather in my car. But thanks a lot for the info..
PS:I'll stop by a local radio shop and see what they can offer me, I don't want to spend a lot of money either...
