I least I'm not the only one with warped interior pieces that don't fit well..

hey el tano, do you have any pics of the 'warped' pieces? I think that most of those 'quality' issues cited in that old video were pre-production and early production models. Could be wrong though.

I guess I'm very lucky.
I've owned my '07 XLE for moths and 4500 miles and don't have any complaints so far and I'm a picky guy.

I already talked about this issue like a 1000 times here in the forum, I don't wanna sound like a Winny, but when I saw the video I couldn't resist It probed my theory that I wasn't being anal with those pieces. I'll post some pictures for you but I already went to the dealer they replaced one, the other one is the dash and the service guy told me that it is in my best interest no to have the dealer to take apart the dash, and I agreed. The sunglasses holder replacement came straight, but once they put it on the car the door is crooked.
Like I said I'll post some pics later

Nine months and 10,000 miles on mine with NO problems.

Well, the dash gap is 1/32" more on the passenger side than the drivers side. BASTARDS!!!

1/32 I can live with do you want to trade cars???? . I'm talking about 1/4 and 3/8 gaps at 2.000 miles. I guess my car was the last car that they were putting togheter on a friday and they wanted to go home It sure look like it . I have to say, It wasn't that bad when I just got it, but after a couple of 100 degree days, that's when I started to notice the gaps on the dash and sun glass holder, and latter doors and the trim around the temperature control.

Was I the only one that got the feeling that they had an agenda against Toyta and/or the Camry on this review???

No, not at all. Considering EVERY single major publication has given favorable reviews. Loud? Again, every major publication that has objectively measured interior sound levels have consistently been very low... 36-37 dBA at idle, 67-69 dBA 70 mph cruising.

That said, it could have been a pre-production model they tested. But watching and "listening" to the Motor Trend Car of the Year Video and how easily soft spoken he was while driving screams something's not right with that review.

I suppose thats what you get when your at the top of the heap for so long detractors are going to nitpick the most miniscule problems as there is really nothing else to complain about.

Here are the pictures: You tell me if this is Toyota quality..

VERY IMPORTANT: Remove your toyota glasses before seeing this thread..

Top part sticks out like a 1/4 inch

1/4 inche gap on left side

closer view of left side

How it should be on the left side

warped door sticking out on the left

warped door in on the right side

Gap on door accent

NOTE: Sunglass holder was replaced already. Item was straight before installation, I don't know what happens durring installation of if It's installed wrong, but Dealer said that the best that they can do.. About the other gaps, they also said that they were normal. But they couldn't explain to me why the 5 cars that they had on the lot didn't have this issues...

^ yeah you have it pretty bad, the 1/4 inch gap next to the radio is huge and the gap on the door accent is also a nice size... seems like you had an early build Camry, did you look over the car before leaving the lot?

Have you tried asking Toyota customer experience for help in new trim pieces to be installed? Send them those pictures and ask them if they would be okay with such fit and finish issues. I know my dealer had ordered and re-positioned successfully some guy's XLE with poor centre stack alignment on the sides....

To be honest, my 06 LX civic has many issues like this and it really irks me. I do plan on trading soon.

If I were you, I would get toyota corporate involved like someone else said as those gaps would drive me nutz, pretty much every day!

I have 2 case numbers but nobody ever called me back...And I tried 2 dealers......I'll try to send this pictures to corporation and see what happens...The dealer said that to fix the gap next to the radio they have to remove the dash, because It's the top part is part of the dash, and his word were: "I don't think that you want your dash replaced, because later you are going have a lot of more gaps on other places", and to be honest with you, after the grease on the seat and the hard water spots (after I told them 3 times "do not wash the car" from the first visit to the dealer and the rude tech from the second dealer, I'm really afraid to take it to the dealer, so I don't know..I'll called corporation tomorrow and see if they can do something..I'm trough with the dealers...
