5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Anyone look under the hood and notice any melting problem? I just look at my 2007 Camry XLE V6 and noticed the plastic tube holding a bunch of wires inside melted. It is located top left corner area (if you look at the engine from the front of the car).
Another location is by the oil check stick, to the left of it. This gray tube is a bit melt as well...
By the way, I got less than 500 miles on this baby so far. The temp gauge hasn't go beyond mid point yet, so no overheating that I know of.
11,500 miles on mine and those wires are perfectly fine, Maybe some sort of cleaner has been sprayed on the wire loom cause it to melt it?

^^That's what I was thinking of so unless you've tried to clean your engine (shouldn't need to with only 500 miles on it) with something you shouldn't have, I'd be taking it back to the dealer ASAP.
Perhaps the dealer sprayed a cleaner or a "Shining" material on the engine during the new car prep?

Could you pop the engine cover off to take additional pics? Just pull up on it and it comes right off. Thanks.

Cool thanks, Im just curious to find out what happened, If you find that the wire loom is fine under the cover (Where it would be hotter) I would blame the new car prep guy at the dealer for spraying too harsh of a cleaner in the engine bay.

I saw piss and shit under the engine cover. And a few other hose look bitten. So far, doesn't look anything serious.
I am taking it to the dealer to inspect (90 bucks for inspection) and not sure how much it will cost to replace some of these hoses...
I went out in the middle of the night last night and look under the hood, a huge mother F* rat ran out of the car.
The funny thing is a couple of days before I went out to home depot to buy some rat poison. It drag one of the cube into the engine area to eat...So I saw the cube in there..
SHEESH!
I doubt warranty will cover that..and I have less than 1k miles on it too!
