Hi guys, newbie here, going in tomorrow to change the seats and door handles at the dealership to leather, got the car a week ago, 2007 LE. I have the mettalic grey exterior color. Now I really first wanted to go with the black interior leather, but since the rest of the color "theme" of the car is grey I thought this might turn out weird. Thinking the leather grey might be the best fit. If I do decide do go with the grey leather not sure which one to pick, if I'm better off going with the SE seats with the black dots (sorry for the lack of better word) or the xle leather seats. What are the differences of these two, is anyone in particular better? Just trying to see if anyone has any opinions, experiences or pictures of the differences. Thank you guys in advance!!
I was thinking the same thing when I got my XLE. I figured they don't offer black leather in the XLE for a reason, so I went with the grey leather. I think that suits best given the stock interior of the car.

Well....
The SE "dots" would be referred to as "perforated leather."
That said....
I presume your dealer is going to have "aftermarket" leather "seat covers" installed, or perhaps even the OEM leather covers. i.e., they are not going to replace your whole seats, but rather they will remove your cloth "seat covers" and replace them with leather equivalents. However, the SE seats are DISTINCTLY different than the CE/LE/XLE seats -- they are more heavily bolstered, both the seat cushions and the seat backs. Therefore, anything for the SE would not fit the CE/LE/XLE, and vice versa. So, at least with "OEM" stuff, there probably is no such thing as "black" leather covers for your seats -- that would exist only for SE seats. Of course, it's probably a case of "anything is possible" from aftermarket suppliers.
Something to bear in mind as you head to your dealer and move forward with this!
I personally prefer black or light beige colours over gray... I think gray is more suited for a fabric colour.
My SE has black leather andit suites the car well (I have Titanium silver for exterior), I also like lighter colours for leather for a more luxuious look, which I have for my couch at home.

hey frosty vibe, technically they're not black, but dark grey... or charcoal. But, we didn't have a choice here in Canada anyway, though I like it.
I had aftermarket leather installed on my LE. It matches the XLE seats. I looked at the SE pattern, but the perforations do not extend all the way through the leather seat covers - the extra padding behind the leather blocks any holes created by the perforations. There are a couple of companies that make these aftermarket leather seat covers, so do a search on the 'Net. It is my understanding that dealers will source-out the seat cover install to an outside vendor who will use one of these products. I asked the dealer who did the work and I went to their facility to actually look at the leather seat covers. They also installed aftermarket seat heaters.

If you have the light wood trim in the XLE, the best color would be the Bisque. The grey just does not mesh with the wood trim and the the wood trim is too light for the balck (charcoal).

I initially wanted to buy a LE only but I wanted leather so my dealer in Canada quoted me $2500 for leather replacement. I chose SE eventually because the SE is only $3500 more and the extra goodies is definitely worth the money, considering I had to pay $2500 just for leather.

True... the colour is indeed charcoal, thanks for the reminder.
