5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I heard a strange rattle from my car last week and decided to take it to the dealership on Friday. At first I thought it was just my exhaust system that was a little bit loose but then they told me that it was the intake manifold. Does anyone know anything about this situation, I have a 07 Toyota Camry LE I4 and I am bugging out because I luv this car to death. Lemme get any suggestions or comments cuz the dealership told me that there are no bulletins for this topic and that nothing can be done until Toyota is going to come out with a new updated manifold. Please let me know if any has any more information that I would need or could help me please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

helps my understandin a bit...but still I dont believe that Toyota has a fix for it yet, atleast thats what the dealership told me....They said they havent come out with a bulletin for the 07 Camrys and which is why they couldnt fix it for me. They told me to wait about 2 weeks and check back. Till then I guess Imma rattle my way around NY. Thankx for the help anywayz!
that's an interesting problem you have there. when did you first notice the rattling? immediately after driving it home? or have you already put some miles on there? i'm just curious because i work in the sales dept for a toyota dealership in san jose, ca, and i'd never heard of this before.

You sayin the intake manifold was loose that caused the rattle?

I have had the car for around 4 months now and I just hit 10k miles today. Last week my car was around 9500 miles when I first noticed the rattling sound. I got it back from the dealership today and they told me that it was definately the intake manifold since the service rep had raised the car and the exhaust wasnt loose and he concluded that it was the intake manifold. Now I dont have much knowledge with engines but according to my understanding he stated that something in the intake manifold was loose. He also stated that it wasnt the first time he had seen this happen with the Toyota Camry although it was his first time noticing it in the Gen 6 Camrys and because so he believes that a new manifold will have the same issue which is why im trying to get some more opinions on this situation and any help would be highly appreciated. Thankx!
I forgot to add that the service rep is going to find out from Toyota if they have come up with a solution since there isnt a bulletin that has been posted yet to fix the manifold and he told me to wait about a week or so and he shall get back to me about it....
So wait a minute....... hes not going to fix it until a TSB comes out? WTF? Does that sound wrong to anyone else? Or did i read that wrong? The car is still under warranty regardless of any TSB. You've got the 36,000 bumper to bumper still as well as the 50k drivetrain dont you? Forget that 1 week nonsense, its under warranty, they need to honor that and fix it, plain and simple.
Yea Im planning on calling the dealership tommorrow and visiting them this weekend because the noise is really freaking me out now...hopefully it will get taken care of lets see!
Well this might ne unique to your car, then no TSBs are going to come out and I guess you will have to drive with that rattle for ever-that doesn't make sense. Something is loose there, have them open the manifold and change it and fix the noise-that is if they are confident in their diagnosis, which sounds like they are not. I will try another dealership.
Yea I actually attend college during the weekdays and dorm at college so I will try to take it into a dealership nearby until I get back home on the weekend and can go make a fuss at the dealership inwhich I bought the car originally at....
hey guys, the dealership is givin me a hard ass time with the fix of the intake manifold, Im going to try another dealship although i believe that they should help me since I purchased the car from them and is still under warrantee with only 11k miles on it. i need help and wanna find out what you guys would suggest....i was told by some that it might be considered a lemon which im not too familiar with, any help is appreciated.....
