5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I read this artical in road and track about the camry SE . They called it the anti sport sedan because the traction / stability control wouldnt let them have any fun. They talked about the steps that Toyota took to make the Se a true sport sedan. Stiffer springs, shocks, sway bar, stiffer bushings in rear suspension ,ground affects, and underside aerodynamics.
This is a Quote from Road and Track : There is even a specific aerodynamic package for the SE, with an underengine panel plus rear-floor and fuel-tank covers that have longitudinal fins like you see on race-car underbody diffusers.
I just did my first oil change on my SE and didnt see any underside aerodynamics. Does anyone have them or was this left off all production models ?

I got my SE without stability-and-traction-control. The traction control is too aggresive. I also have a TL-Type S and its traction control is just right. It will even lay rubber when it shift into second gear. Toyota should take a look at Honda and re-program thier traction control program like Acura.
I also got my Se without traction / stability control. I think they should have an on/ off button. I had a Grand Prix GT , it had an on / off button. I got stuck in the snow once and couldnt get out until I turned traction controll off. Wont have that probem in Florida but what about the folks up north ?
I got the diffuser and i don't have traction control
They probably are really effective, only sounds cool... only way it will be effective is if the entire underbody is covered and channelled so that the air will flow evenly...

you should look at the underbody of F-1 cars
apparently, the stepped front spoiler creats zero lift. And the rear diffuser simply reduces drag. I read somewhere that they are effective primarily at highway speeds.
