gen 5.5 fog light size and relay location

For those who have a gen 5.5, are the foglights physically larger than the cut outs on the bumper? I ordered some aftermarket fogs from ebay from a reputable seller...and the person who was going to install it for me said that it seemed to be the wrong fog. I've been looking for pics throughout the forum and ebay. On ebay, every foglight for sale looks like the one I have and the ones on the forum aren't quite close up for gen 5.5s

The relay location...i'm just curious to see if i have one. I was looking at the fuses inside the car under the steering wheel and i noticed i had fog light fuses...This could sway me to do the oem set up. Thanks ahead of time!

yes, the fog lights are physically larger than the cut outs. the aftermarket fogs on ebay are the right size, but i cannot guarantee that they will fit properly. the set i had bought, i had to modify the mounting tabs slightly for it to fit properly... so your mileage may vary. the quality was not very good either... so i ended up buying OEM fogs.

as it seems like you have the fog cutouts that are removeable and fog light fuses... you are likely prewired for fogs. the relay locations is located in the back of the drivers panel fuse box... it should be the top most relay socket.

Thanks for the reply! I actually do not have the cut outs. THe cut out i was referring to was the indentation on a molded bumper that indicates where the fogs should go. I found a shop who can do some sort of mounting bracket from the metal bumper.

The driver panel you are referring to...is that the door near the left knee below the steering wheel? I'm not sure if you mean they are behind the fuses that I saw or not. Thanks for your help (...on multiplie occasions..i took your advice on the LED lighting and website to buy it from )

as long as they can make it look good, you'll probably save quite a bit of money that way. either way, i still think you are prewired for fogs, because of the fuses already being in place.

yup... the panel near the left knee below the steering wheel is what i'm referring to. when you take that panel off, you see the fuse box... on the reverse side of that fuse box are the relays. these are not visible from that panel, nor are they easily accessible. you can try reaching under the dash panels to put the relay in, but the last time i did that, i found it very very difficult. it is far easier just to take the dash panel trim off and install the relay.

sorry to being up an old old thread....but i thought this would be useful for some people.

I have a fuse for the fog lights, but no relay...so...just because you have a fuse that doesn't mean you have a relay

Here's a pic of the panel behind the fuses
