Tire warning light

I have a 06 LE Camry Had the tires rotated yesterday. On the bill it said they reset the tire warning light. I looked through the book and could not find anything on this? Are they BS me?

i think they're bsing you... to my knowledge gen 5.5's did not have tire pressure warning lights...

did they charge you for the so called "reset"? Because there is none for the gen 5.5

there is a service light... comes on every 3-5k miles... i dk about tires

No foul here, guys. Tire rotation is a quick, in-and-out service, often performed with other maintenance operations. Lube techs blow through these operations with some speed, especially since many dealers run those "29 minutes or the next one's free" coupons and the techs are under some pressure to get the work out.

Since the tire pressure monitoring systems are relatively new to the industry, techs will not think to reset the systems unless reminded many times to do so. In this case, management pre-loads that statement about the reset in the program that generates the workorder so it automatically prints out and serves as a reminder to the tech and a statement of service rendered.

Since not all cars are so equipped, it looks dumb on yours, but ALL vehicles sold in the USA by the 2008 model year must have these systems in place. (The general populace is too irresponsible to be bothered with monitoring their own tire pressures, so Big Brother is doing it for us). The statement on your invoice is part of the industry effort to create a habit no one has had to have before. I went through the same thing years ago with the oil change reminder systems when they first came out and will soon need to do the same for the TPM systems on the Lincolns and Mercurys I service.

Thanks, but I wouldn't say "No foul" until there is a response from the original poster that there was no charge...it wouldn't be unheard of for a retail lube/service center to have mistaken/crooked practices. I have been charged for repalcing my cabin air filter as a specific line item and it was never touched.

I was not charged for the reset, but they said all the tires were 6-8 lbs low. Thats BS because I checked them a couple of day before.
