You need a Dual layer disc and a quality burner. Finding a safe download site is a crap-shoot. I have my old 10.1 disc as well as the 11.1 disc I used to create the override. Email me at jhg at mris.com.

Having an issue with 09 Camry SE and verbatim DL+R

I followed all directions to the T and I'm using a 10.1/5.1 disk.

After hooking the battery back up, it loaded the new firmware, however after that it said "unable to read map data"... i've burned 3 disks, one at the lowest speed possible and it still isn't reading. I also tried taking out the disk and putting it back in without any luck.

anyone know if verbatim doesn't work or have any suggestions?

Thanks

Step one: Is the Book Type set to DVD-ROM, will your burner allow a DVD-ROM book type with DVD+R DL discs? My home computer does, my laptop does not.
Step two" Burn it slow
Step three: make sure the 10.1 is an original and not a (Possibly corrupt) torrent, I said possibly
Step four: after correcting 1-3, consider memorex, tdk. etc

One of the reasons I bought an override (Coastal or Prestigious) was to avoid what you are experiencing. I bought my new 11.1, I make 2 copies and put the original in the safe. I drive with the copy, and the spare copy is in the glove compartment. After having my disc stolen in Atlanta by a valet at the Westin I learned never to use the original. I used to make my copy with the 5.1 loader but found as newer smartphones came along bluetooth performance suffered. The newer firmware has eliminated that problem for me. Hence the need for an override, which I feel is worth the money.

Jonez,

Having made and installed numerous over ride discs, one thing I have encountered. It sometimes takes some time for the system to recognize the map data. I, too have remade discs only to have them indicate they cannot be read. What I foound is to be patient. More often, if you wait 30 seconds it will read the data. If your system read the firmware, it has recognized the disc for what it is. I have used Vervatim, Memorex, and TDK. For 11.1 with 5.1, I used Vervatim and they work fine. The biggest issue, I believe is the quality of the DVD hardware.

Thanks for the advice!

I'll try it again with a slower burn speed, i left the other disk in for over 5 minutes after it upgraded the firmware but it just sat there.

does loading.kwi from 5.1 firm works with 10.1 or later. I have 6.1/8.1 and now 10.1. Will get 11.1 soon but wondering if firmware 5.1 will work which will enable me to override or I will have to go with 3rd party override device.
