Do you have to pay dealer delivery or other dealer fees on Demo vehicles?

First of all I'm Australian, so I'm buying here in Australia. I've been reading through and searching the threads. Lot of good stuff to read here by the way, I've read back through the gen5 and 6 archive to about page 76 now, and let me say you guys have some VERY sweet cars. But anyway down to business.

Right now I'm in the market for a new car, and I'm throwing up between a 2005 Toyota Camry Altise, or a nice brand new 2007 Toyota Camry Altise.

The Altise is the base model, whatever that means for you Americans with your other model names.

Now if I was going to go down the new car route I was looking to get a Demo vehicle to save a bit of money.

But I want to know if there are dealer fees associated with Demo cars like there are new cars, like dealer delivery or preparation.

Or is it just the same as used cars where you only have to pay government stamp duty, and can haggle them for a price without having to pay crap fees on top.

The 2007 Toyota Camry Altise, is going for $28,000 AUD on Toyota's site.

How much should I be asking off that for a demo car?

And what are things to look out for when buying a demo vehicle.

It's going to be all but impossible for North Americans to offer educated opinions regarding your issue. Things are just different with respect to retail pricing. I would think that a used car is a used car, but at some point the dealer fees must have been figured into the pricing mix. Beyond that, pricing is a matter of supply and demand, so if you are in the city with several dealers you might get a deal. Up in Darwin, it might be a challenge to get a good price. Talk to local people you know who have recently purchased new vehicles to see if they can offer some advice.

Here in Illinois, a demo is still considered a new car. A new car is any car that has never been titled. That's also why last years models are sold as new cars when the next model year cars come out.

It is my opinion that if you know how to use the internet for pricing information and know how to negotiate with the dealership, then you can get the same deal on a brand new car (never driven more than a few miles) as you can get on a demo. If it were me, I would stay away form the demo. Like any used car, you never know how a car has been driven. You are paying for a new car; get a new car. Just my 2 cents.
