Gen6 Squirrel Spotters

Before anyone gets hot here about the projector, HID debate let me first say that i am new here and don't debate that Retrofitting is the best option. Be it that all HID that are retrofitted, or Plug n Play are illegal because they don't have auto-levelling, or are DOT, lets not even go there about this.

Now for the real question. Does anybody have a detailed picture or schematic on how to cover up the squirrel spotter with tape. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time in advance.

Use a screwdriver, Insert it into the bulb hole, Push the rectangle flap forwrd until it is bent flush up against the cutoff shield, no need to open the headlights up to tape them on the front of the shield

Thanks, will this effect cut-off, and is this reversible if i want to change it back (I know a dumb question but just need to know). Plus any pics of this "squirrel Spotter".

P.S. Can this be done without taking the headlights off.

Thanks for the speedy reply

The spotters are aimed at a 45 degree angle, it would be hard to get it back exactly, Plus after bending it down, it may snap off trying to pull it back. You may be able to get to them on the car deoending on what you use to push them down, You may need to remove the battery to get to the drivers side

Is it possible to cover them up instead of bending them down while still on the car?

As far as I know, they're part of the cutoff shield... they need to be pushed/removed from the light beam, covering them up i would think would make them worse.

FWIW - I'm liking the bi-xenons.... Squirrel Spotters-On, Squirrel Spotters-Off (well at least that's what I imagine the solonoid is doing to the shield.)

not quite .....
or atleast those are some major squirrels you can spot
about the size of 747's .........

the squirrel spotter flap is ok with halogens, but horrible with HID.

from my experiences, and i can check it when i get home, but the flap is resiliant enough for one or 2 adjustments, but it definately isn't strong enough to sit there and adjust it back and forth .....

honestly, just push it closed, and if you go back to halogens, it isn't going to hurt you to leave it closed, or just pry it foreward...

In order to cover them up with tape, the entire headlight assy needs to be taken apart, Not worth it. Might as well do a retro while your in there. Like I am

For those with aftermarket HIDs, can you tell if you're blinding peeps without covering the spotters?

Yes, I was blinded the other day by a Gen 6 with HIDs that didn't cover up the squirrel spotters.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

My 4300k HID Conversion. You can slightly see the Squirrel spotters above the cutoff

Being followed. And I have 15% tints in the rear too. Can you imagine what it'd be like oncoming?
