I started a thread couple weeks ago on retrofitting the '07 key, but have yet to find any guidance whatsoever I just purchased a used '07 key and a key blank for it, as I gonna attempt to do this to my '06 Avalon XLS.

Programming the remote should be easy, since it only reqires a certain sequence of turnings of ignition/doorlock. However, I don't feel like getting raped by the dealer for them to adapt a new key to the car's immobilizer But I heard that such adaption can be done without the help of dealer's software / equipment, instead all is needed are an existing master key and a specific sequence of pressing and releasing of the gas and brake pedal Can anyone confirm this?

I've also thought of totally avoiding the need to have the adaptation done by switching immobilizer chip inside the key. That is, to cut up an exisitng (and working) master key for the car to get the chip and swap it to the replacement `07 key. This is just an idea and I'm not too sure on doing this neither

Please do tell if you have any ideas / comments

I searched this forum for programming an new key for my Camry 2007. I can not find what I need.
From Ebay I bought an new key and let it copy with the code.

The manuel sendet with the key, did I use for activating the buttons on the key.
I repeated it for 4 times but I can't get the buttons to work. The car wil also not start with my new key.
Can anyone please explane me what I can do about this ?

Your key probably does not have a chip in it. That is why you cant start the car. In order to start the car, your key communicates with the ECU of the car. You have link to eBay auction of key?

If your key has a chip, see post #10.

If no chip, no wireless unlock or start.........

For what it's worth, I bought a key on ebay for my daughter's 07 Scion tC for $80. Scion/Toyota dealer charged $40 to cut and program. Threw in a flat key which will unlock doors ( I assume the flat key was a test before they cut the chip version).

Here is the key I bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...AQ:MOTORS:1123

This was the manual delivered with the key:

2) WITHIN 5 SECONDS, without turning, insert and remove key from tbe ignition twice. (Ieave key out)
3) WITHIN 40 SECONDS, Close and open the driver door twice. (Ieave door in open position)
4) Again, insert key into the ignition and remove it. This time only once. (Ieave key out)
5) WITHIN 40 SECONDS, Close and open the driver door twice, then close the door.
6) Insert key into the ignition and leave it in the LOCK position.
Al) Turn the key to "ON" for 1 second, then turn back to "LOCK".
A2) Remove the key.
A3) You'lI hear the doors "LOCK" and 1 second later "UNLOCK" (just listen)
A4) On your remote, press the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for 1 to 1.5 seconds, then let go.
A5) On your remote, IMMEDIATELY press unlock BUTTON.
You'll hear the doors "LOCK", then "UNLOCK" once. The remote is ae-cepted. If you want to program
another remote, immediately proceed to step A4 with your second remote, otherwise open the driver’s door
and the remote is registered.
If DO response, go back to step 1 near the beginning of these instructions.

I tried it 4 times, but still a not working key. Can anyone tell me why the dealer can program my key, and I can't ?

Yes, you don't have a Toyota Intelligent tester, software, and knowledge to use it............

Another really helpful reply, Njerald. I suspect your view of what others think of your snide comments is quite different than reality.

It chosts me 28,- euro, so I have the key complete for 86,- euro.
