Starting problem in the cold?

I'd say today was the coldest day so far this winter (14F when I went out). With that said, my '07 Camry didn't want to start. The battery was really straining to get it started and after a few tried it kick over.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Since it's suppose to get colder tonight then it was last night, I've got my fingers crossed it'll start. What's strange is because of this little episode, I deiced to try and start my '01 Expedition (Original Battery), which I had run in a month. The dang thing kicked right over without hesitation! I was like WOW!

Maybe I got a lemon or something, but other then a Pontiac I had in the mid 80's (this was a 1st year model also), this is the WORST vehicle I've every owned.

That would have nothing to do with it. He is describing a week crank.

THEN...after a getting out of the parking spot.... then in "Drive" i gave it gas and all it did was rev and it moved ever so slowly... I had to gas it twice for it to "engage" into drive. it was surreal. THis was all over in about 30 seconds.. but SH*T this is a new car...

same thing happened to me... when I started my car... i heard some kind of revving sound coming from my engine... but the RPM didn't go high or anything... might be the alternator... but dunno... but my gears engaged fine... i'll see if i can hear the revving sound again tomorrow morning... so damn cold

Well, at least it's not only me. I've got this bad feeling that this new Camry is going to do down in the books are a botched launch for Toyota and it's going to hurt them.

Toyota needs to get their act together!

BTW, my car has a weak crank in the cold. It did it again this morning. It's almost like the cold is keeping the starter from moving. Maybe thes cars need a twin battery setup like in my diesel pickup.

Aren't you being a little dramatic? I in no way have any issues in which I would declare my LE as a complete failure.

How is it being dramatic by saying it looks like it's a botched launch for Toyota? Have you seen the thread from the 6 Cyc Auto trannies dropping, power issues with the 4 Cyc motor (they blame on drive by wire), to the crazy amount of creaks on the dash, b pillar, and sunroof? There's other problems, but the ones I've listed are to numerous to say it was a fluke. All the ones I've listed are either design/engineering or quality control problems.

The worst part of these problems is that 6 speed autos arn't new, drive by wire isn't new and plastic dashes/interiors arn't new.

If someone listed these same problems without giving the manufacturer's name, most would think it was a domestic builder. Toyota might be the last company one might think of with these problems on a new model year launch. So being that it's a Toyota launch, I'd say it's not dramatic at all, and it would be accurate to say Toyota has botched the launch of the '07 Camry.

Dramatic or not, it's an opinion and everyone has a right to one. Then again, maybe I'm being anal, but I bought a Toyota because how everyone seemed to always rant and rave about Toyota quality. What I've found, and this is my 1st Toyota, is that initial quality is worse in the Toyota then any vehicle I've every purchased, except for a '86 Pontiac Grand AM SE.
