Canada Rear Defroster 2007 Camry LE V6

Hi,

I have noticed it takes forever for the rear defroster to clean up the rear window in my Camry. I am comparing this with the time taken to defrost on my '04 Corolla which does the job in a fraction of the time.

Is anyone else having this problem? Did you get it fixed?

The rear does defrost eventually but one would have to drive an awful long time for it to happen. This morning it was -20C here in Calgary and I was on the road in stop and go traffic for about half an hour and it still had not defrosted the rear completely.

Any ideas?

scrape the half inch of ice off the outside before turning on the defroster.

they're likely using the same power supply for the corrolla's rear glass defroster as they do in the much larger rear glass of the gen6 camry, that's a lot of thermal load, especially with ice stuck onto it.

if you're saying it took half an hour to get the fog off the inside of the window, then take it to your dealer, it broke.

If they are using the same power supply as the Corolla that would explain a lot.

I do get most of the ice off but what ever is left does not melt as quickly as it does on the corolla.

I live in Calgary too and have the Camry SE V6 and my rear defroster works great. Of course I am not leaving 4" of snow on the back window and expecting the defroster to melt it all away...are you? Your expectations might be a bit high if you are doing that. If you are not then take the car in to the dealer to have them take a look at the defroster. I am guessing if you have a Gen 6 Camry that it is still under warranty.

Heck I live in California and I think it takes too long. Much longer than the Honda Accord I had before this. Originally I thought mine was defective..

I'm from So Cal as well and have the same complaint. My older Camry 00 seems to defrost much, much faster.
