Another unhappy 2007 owner

With it's reputation and the fact that it looks so good on paper compared to other cars it's a sure bet.... right? What a P.O.S. After only 7000 miles I have the much talked about transmission problem The stealership has checked it out two times and assures me there's nothing wrong. Maybe when the tech test drives the car it doesn't free rev to 4500rpm then snap his head back into the seat. For those that have gone through this, how did you get Toyota to fix it? Can they fix it?

I'm assuming your car does it on the first 3-4 shift after not being driven for a little while. Take your car to the dealer and let it sit for about 1/2hr. Then take the service manager for a ride and demonstarte the flare to him. It will be hard for him to deny it then. There are members here who have already had their transmissions replaced for the flare, most of them with good results. Search the postings. There is a lot of information on this subject.

I handed them the TSB that Toyota released on it. They kept it overnight and drove it the next morning, and it flared for them. No other questions asked, they replaced the transmission.

The TSB should make them do it if the car does flare. Print it out its a sticky on top that should help you.

Sorry to hear about your problem. I had my tranny replaced and it still has not fixed my problem. They don't know how to fix my problem at this point. The TSB says it has to be a specific complaint from the consumer. Keep going back and document everything. Make them write a service order and give you a copy everytime you present your car for service on this issue. They know it's happening.

Sorry that you're having problems with your new Camry.

If your dealer won't fix your car- even after you point out the TSB- go to another dealer and then report your dealer to Toyota directly. (or ask for the customer service manager at the dealer that you're taking it to)

I like her. Just wish there had been no transmission problems, but I'm hoping that they fixed it.

Call Toyota corporate to voice your disappointment calmly of this happening to 30K dollar vehicle and that a major factor of purchasing a Toyota is their reliability. With out hassle (at least in my case) the case manager offered to replace my vehicle.

I have 2007 V6 Camry SE which was purchased in June of 06 and started having noticeable flares at approx 7-8K. It progressively got worse till it malfunctioned completely at approx 11K.
