Well, so much for that. It flared again this morning. Granted, the flare wasn't as bad as it was with the first tranny, but still it flared between 3rd and 4th. I don't even have 500 miles on this new transmission yet.

Know the feeling, Brother. I didn't even have 50 mi. on my replacement when it flared. It's not as bad as the first. When I bring it in for my next scheduled maintenance I'll report it. It will be worse by then and no problem to diagnose.

Is it safe to say that before the tsb most of the flare people had it flare most of the time and pretty bad? I bought my car used. It has an 08/06 build date. It has flared less than 10 times in the 1500 miles I've put on it. The flares are usually on 3-4 but not always and they can happen when it's cold or warm. They're also small at < 300 rpms. I have NOT had the tsb done on it. It's possible the dealer did perform the tsb before they sold it to me but I very seriously doubt it.

At this point I'm not really concerned with them although I'm a little disappointed they're there. Hopefully they won't get any more frequent.

Where did you read that nonsense? The rest of the car still has the original mileage on it.

All we can do is keep bringing it back till Toyota gets it right. Make sure you get a loaner so you can relieve your frustrations

Angry

Mine flared the day after the TSB was applied, then not again...until I pulled the battery. Now it flares all the time. Going back in on Saturday.

What they "reset" is the memory of the Drive By Wire. Meaning you start out fresh with all the habits from driving before the fix are gone. It is like a new car in that respect.

Also, I still have not had any flares since I had my whole transmission replaced.

I have a small flare when car is cold on the first 3/4 shift of about 300 RPM and then it is fine. I have about 4K miles and have NOT had the transmission replaced. I think I will wait and see what happens. So far I do not see any improvement with the new transmissoins.
