I went on the Rav4 forum and it's pretty dead.
I'm thinking about getting an '06 Rav4 4X4 and dumping the Explorer.
My wife got a promotion and is changing work sites to a busy city with traffic andtight garage parking.
She wants smaller smaller SUV.
So I'm thinking '06 low mileage certified Rav4 but would like some info on the pros and cons of the model.
My wife has an 06 I4 Limited, 2 wd. She loves it but with the I4 it is a little underpowered. With the V6 it is huge overkill. She got into this from a Dodge minivan and it is about the same height for vision and gives her better mileage. In this part of the world I have never seen a 4wd on the lot. You might need to shop New Mexico and Colorado to find one of those.

Here in Jersey there are plenty of 4X4's here but are very, very pricey for a low mileage '06.
Just missed a '06 4X4 with 7K milesfor $18,999 asking.
Seemed like a steal.
Going to look at one later at $19,999 with 12K miles which is a decnt asking price.
The Explorer is a 6 cyl and isn't a speed demon by any means.
Traded in a '05 Corolla for the Camry and it was ok with the 1.8L.
The 2.4L should be about the same with the extra weight.
The only problem was steep hills.
The Explorer MPG was piss poor at an average of 14.7.
i see more of these around here....and quite frankly, i like it more than the rav4 - looks kinda bmw x3-ish from the sides. got a more upscale interior too...

Nicer vehicle but they are more $$$ that the Rav4.
Pretty big difference on an low mileage '06 models between the two.
Honda's have better resale than toyota's.
Well,I'm leaving in a few minutes to check out an '07 Rav4 Sport with 6K miles on her or a new base model Rav4 for the same price.
More interested in the Sport..
Just got a call from the Sales manager I know where I bought my Camry.
He said I could have it for $20,650.
The trade in number I want will determine if that car is bought.

Ever thought about the Forester? My wife drives a 2006 2.5x Forester. I test drove it with her before purchasing it and she loved it from the start. It has good torque and hp the AWD is always a plus for a small SUV. We got it for around 22xxx out-the-door
Let be a d!ck for a moment....is the Rav4 a new Camry trim level? Wrong forum, boys.
i posted on the RAV4 forum and no reply so I asked if anyone had on here.
Just bought a '06 silver with black interior 4 cyl Sport with 6500 miles on her.
Nice vehicle.
The 4 cyl adequate but the 6 cyl must fly in this think.
All in all a lot bigger inside than I thought.
The wife is happy.
My sister at first was going to get a RAV4 basic and then I talked her into test driving the Limite with the V6. It is pretty fast. Still, the I4 should do fine.

Locally, Hertz Car Sales has the 2006 Forester 2.5x models for $16,995 w/ around 20K miles. When I bought my Camry they didn't have much of a selection of cars. Anyway, glad the OP ended up with a RAV4. Can't go wrong with a Toyota

Thanks for the reply,Trogan
I have been never much of a Subaru guy.
Although it's a solid vehicle,we're not crazy about the station wagon look of a Forester.
