Anyone replace door speakers in JBL system?

Has anyone replaced the door speakers in an '07 Camry with the JBL system? I am thinking of upgrading to some Polk speakers and wondered how it would work with the JBL amp.

Thanks in advance for the input.

Rob

I would like to know about this as well. I'm not about to drop $1k on speakers and amp(s), but believe I have blown one of the JBL speakers in my 07 and would like to go aftermarket. Anyone know what impedence each speaker is? Hoping it will be an easy drop-in replacement. Any other relavent info would be great.

On a side note, you think a blown speaker would be covered under warrenty?

I've done it. I installed JBL GTO527 speakers. Not much improvement.

But I've gotta wonder.... are/were the stock JBL speakers 2 ohms? (As is oh-so-common with upgraded factory systems) If so, that may be a reason why you noticed little improvement. Second, not that I'm knocking your selection, but JBL's GTO series is nothing special.

They were 2 ohms. I'm not an expert but I feel I wasted my money changing those speakers. I don't have the technical knowledge to have done much more.

Thank you. If you would have purchased a pair of 2 ohm speakers, I'm sure you would have been much happier with the outcome. By using regular 4 ohm speakers, you effectivly cut power output from the amp in half. Better speakers..... but half the power to em'.

If you're going to replace any JBL speakers you might as well trash what's left and build it new from top to bottom.

Damn JBL...what a waste of money.

Damn! In my face. It's just that 95% of aftermarket speakers are 4 ohms, so I quickly assumed. Well, then I shouldn't expect an upgrade in sound.... BUT it IS possible to swap in 2 ohm aftermarket speakers to replace blown stock ones. (I was worried they would be 8 ohm speakers, or each seperatly amplified, or dual voice coil or something else that would give me issues) Thanks for the help. Any other useful info would still be appraciated!
