It's not worth the money. The navigation is pretty bad and the screen is not high resolution. It's not very accurate compared to my Garmin C550. The Toyota Nav system has taken me some horrible routes that are much longer no matter which preset you use, quick 1, 2 or short. Aftermarket GPS devices are far superior. However, there are a couple companies that can make the gps screen into an amazing video monitor and you can integrate your ipod, sirius and video sources to it.

Have your punched in addresses of places you know how to get to? Mine has made me make a right hand turn at an intersection instead of a left only to have me make an immediate u-turn. It also tried to route me 45 minutes to an hour more when the entire trip only took an 45 to an hour total. I needed to get from Gainesville, VA to Garrisonville, VA. I live very close to the 234 bypass which isn't new. My Toyota Nav tried to take me down rt 66 to 495 to 95 no matter which option I chose. It did this 3 days in a row. My Garmin correctly routed me down the 234 bypass. Even when I was on the 234 bypass, the toyota nav tried to route me back to 66 the entire way.
I'm thinking of buying a Camry and the navigation plays an important role. I need it because I travel a lot to cities and areas I'm not familiar with.
I have alot of experience in nav systems. Toyotas are not good. However, they can easily come out with a new DVD that could change everything. I personally would save the 2k on the nav system and purchase a Garmin or TomTom portable nav unit. They have great screens, fantastic functionality and are more accurate and precise with their directions. Not to mention they can be taken from car to car. They especially come in handy if you travel by plane and use rental cars alot. I travel alot for work and find my Garmin to be an incredible tool and it's never once let me down. The traffic avoidence systems in the navs are ok at best. They will get better as time goes on.
While I have never used a TomTom or Garmin unit, I find the NAV in the Camry to work quite well. I'm in sales and travel a lot...even in fairly sparsely populated areas, and it seems to work well.
My only complaint, and this is something that I'm sure I could fix if I read the manual, is when I key in an address that is not listed in the system, it doesn't automatically find the next closest address
ex. I want to go to 1234 bluebird rd. I type that in and it says address not found. However I can manually scroll to that area and road and find that they maybe have 1233 Bluebird Rd in the system not 1234 therefore it simply replies not found.
Off topic, but does anyone know how to have it go to the closest existing address?
Another thing that bugs me about the Toyota Nav is it's poi find. If I'm looking for something like "donuts" and type donuts in, it lists donut shops and the first one is 400 miles away from me. The 2nd one is a few states away from me. Do this in a Garmin or TomTom and it'll not only list all the donut places, it also will list them in order of closest to farthest and show you the mileage to them. The Garmin and TomTom units also narrow down your searches extremely fast. The Toyota Nav makes you put in almost the whole name. As I said before though, it would only take an update to fix all of this.

I had a customer last year who very upset with the nav in the Avalon because if he said "strip clubs" nothing came up. Once he stopped say strip clubs it worked fine.

Do you have the Navi set to search in the correct Region? Example: US1,US2,US3....etc.

Ah man, now I'm a little disappointed. After reading the reviews in this thread, it seems like the Navi sucks. I know the best alternative is to buy an aftermarket product, but I hate messing with crap like that. I guess I will just have to test it out when I go to the dealership and see for myself.
