5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Pssh! I wish! I take the train 30 miles to work and school, but the train station is right across from my house so I usually walk or if I'm in a hurry or it's too cold I'll drive. I drive back to my hometown every weekend, usually 2-3 times in the weekend span. It's 15 miles each way so that like 90 miles a week... yeah I don't drive her much. LOL
it'll be one year for me tomorrow and i have around 16k already -.-
my dealership is really being annoying with the TSBs, their
"test-driver" can't find any of the problems im asking for, especially
the hesitation on the transmission. also i crashed my car and had to
replace almost everything in front of the engine, and toyota is now
blaming that, even though the problems were evident prior to the
accident -.-

Mods to come soon!
Time really flies. It doesn't seem like the '07's have been out a year already. Mine is only a month and 3 weeks old. 7,800 miles as of this morning. I transferred for work, so now I'm only 2 blocks from work, as opposed to the 100+ miles each way commute I had originally. The mileage should drop significantly now. I haven't even taken it out of the garage since Thursday.

My 07 LE I4 will be a year old on April 1. I currently have 17500 miles on the car. I had TSB for hesistation and harsh downship transmission done since 9,500 miles. Has been trouble free since the TSB done. I have gone throught 3 different set of rims Kruz 18" then Gazario 20" and currently have U2 20". Plan on keeping these U2 20" rims.

My XLE v-6 will be a year old Aug. 10th and I currently have just under 3900 miles on her. I have done two oil changes one at a 1000 and one a couple days ago. No other problems to report thus far. Well my shitty suspension, but that is my fault.
One year birthday on 3/8, Japanese built, currently 16K miles. I traded in 2005 Accord EX-L V6 with Nav because of its harsh transmission shift and the dealer refused to fix it.
Here is my comment about this car with one year ownership:
07 Camry XLE V6 is smoother, quieter and more comfortable than Accord. I like the Bluetooth, JBL 400W stereo system, tire pressure monitor (Save me 2 times), and smart key system the most. Head light design is very good looking.
Ash interior with yellow wood trim is kind of cheap and bored design! IMO, Accord's interior is still much better design. Nav system is not easy to use. I rarely use the voice recognition feature but it never understand what I am saying.
The tail light design is bad looking. Looks cheap to me. Hybrid's tail lights are better looking.
Leather on leather seat starts to crack, and it's not very comfy.
Transmission flares between 3rd-4th gears occurred since last Oct (around 12K) but it is gone two weeks ago. Because of warm Temp? (60s F in DC)
Last summer, during Hot weather (90s F), the car became very sloppy and slow response. I am gonna miss the cold temperature but not transmission flare.
Dealer replace the whole new set tires for me with better grade Michelin MXV4 Plus for free($180/each) , the rattle between dashboard and windshield , New Nav Map DVD TSB(still version 5.1) . Overall, the dealer service is good.
I also purchased 7yr/100K extended warranty for $880, which means we plan to keep this car for another 5-6 years. Thanks for the valuable info on this forum.
Any mods? Only customized door sills from eBay and OEM black all-weather floor mat (I think they should have a gray one to match the interior color). I was going to put XM radio and Spoiler on it, but I found out spolier only looks on SE, and XM is not worth to go for 'cause I only drove 5 miles to office every day.
As far as the gas mileage, I got around 25 MPG 70Hwy /30city, 20MPG 95%City, and 31 MPG 100% hwy.
Any regrets? I don't know. But with a 30K car. I should've waited another 9 months because of more new model came out (Mazda CX7, CX9, 07 Nissan Altima and Maximum, 07 Acura TL) and IMO they look much better than 07 Camry.
Anyway. my family is planning to buy a second car. Currently I am toward to New 08 Highlander (very nice design inside out ) and my wife will drive Camry .

My XLE will be a year old in July. I bought it in August and to date have a whopping 2026 mile on it, do I win the prize for the least miles after 7 months of ownership???
No prize for you! I got mine June 8th and have 1830 miles on it. Going on trip this summer, about 5000 miles so I'll let every one know what kind of miles I get on Highway.
