Ut-Oh windshield chip

with a small crack.
Looks like I'm screwed.
Got a price for a repair($60) and a new windshield at $350 from Diamond AutoGlass franchise.
Seems the electric darken mirror makes the coast rise a bit.
The chip is in the line of sight and has a crack aboout a 1/2 inco so far so the windshield will have to be replaced.
Happened on the way home after picking up the car for the bumper scratch repair.
When it rains it pours.

Here in Florida, insurance pays 100% of the replacement fee, no deductable, I guess that's just a Florida thing but you should check with your insurance company just in case. Sorry bout your luck!

You sure? That sounds like a deductible for collision. This would be comprehensive.

Unfortuneately,I have a $500 deductible on comp and collision.
NJ has the highest insuranjce rates in the nation.
That's why the $500 on both.
I'm screwed.
The glass place is coming Weds to do a repair if possible.
Doesn't look good though as it has a half inch crack already and cracks are a problem.
Chips are filled to prevent cracks.
The chip/crack is also in the line of vision which can be a problem legally in NJ with a repair.
Although they will do the fix if they can.
Looks like it's going to be a new windshield, tho.
We'll see.

Every ok.
Had a windshield changed in a '05 Corolla and everything was fine.
Only $185 for that install.
I hope they don't have any problem with the electric darkening mirror wiring.
The cost of the windshireld and install is more because of that mirror.

It doesn't matter if it's comprehensive or collision. There is still a deductible.

It's possible to have a policy with a $0 or very low deductible (in the hundreds), but then your monthly rate would be higher.

Anyway, I am sorry to hear about your turn of events. It sucks hard picking up the car after being fixed for one thing, and now planning to fix the next thing.

If it makes you feel any better, my car is in the shop with $7000 of damage. And me deductible is twice as large as yours.

You are correct on the deductible.

I appreciate your kind thought and I'm sorry to read of your situation.
The higher the deductible, the lower the rates and in this state one must try to keep the rate lower.
$0 deductible would cost a lot more money.
