Anybody install a block heater?

I can't find the hole to install it. I have the hybrid but it's probably installed in the same location as the I4.

It hasn't been cold enough here to have a block heater, back in December it definitely was with the big storms. BTW Squint, where are you located... finally a fellow Colorado 6th Gen Camry owner!

I'm in Littleton.

The block heater would be most useful during cold weather but I found that this spring I would get ridiculousl high fuel economy (~55 mpg) if my engine was still warm from having driven within the last few hours. I have electric sockets at all my parking spots and don't pay for the electricity (I still wouldn't leave it on 24/7 though, just 1-3 hours before driving).

I think I may have located the installation point in the service manual but I need to go get more tools and figure out the best way to access the area.

My actual address is in Littleton, but I'm dead smack in the middle of Lone Tree. I'm right by the Park Meadows Mall, less than a mile away and right across the street from the Lincoln Lightrail Station. Let me know how things go with the engine block heater!

The installation hole was where I suspected it was and I installed the heater and routed the cord. I'll power it on later today when I'm around to keep an eye on it.

I had to remove the entire air filter box to access the area. I'll post pictures and instructions in a few days.

My last two projects are applying clear bra and an HID retrofit. I ordered big sheets that will cover the entire bumper in one piece and the entire hood with another piece.

I have most of the parts for the HID retrofit: SC430 projectors, 300ZX clear lenses, extra headlight units (to minimize downtime though I still do have my old Gen 3 Camry that I drive around when I'm working on my new one), ballasts, and 4300k bulbs.

These two projects are probably going to be a PITA. I'll probably do the clear bra first.

I live in the ghetto apartments a little bit west of the Mineral Lightrail station.

LOL you don't need a block heater.

With my old Toyota Echo, it fired up at -32 Celsius (-26 F) at my cottage this January without problems.

If this little, zero-electronics, Echo can fire up at -32 Celsius (-26 F), then no other car needs a block heater.
