i was wondering if anyone knew of a website that has kits to tint your taillights i am looking for something to make my lights look darker but not fully blacked out
^ i would go with spray...but depends on the look you are going for...I made mine with a lot of coats...but thin ones. I've had some dirty looks from cops when i drive by them, but becuas ei sprayed htem in such light coats..the light transmission is still like stock. IMO spraying...when done right will look much better than vinlys. I have yet to see a vinly overlay that looks as glossy as my setup. I have nothing against vinyls..but the only thing that mde me go away from it, is the fact that since the sheet is so thick, its hard to see people when they hit the brakes
My argument for vinyls is they are easily to apply and easy to take off. Also, they don't affect light output as much as spray. Vinyls comes in a variety of color and can be used for multiple applications. For an idea of various ways you can use vinyls, here's a link to Bluebatmobile's website:
my vinyls are great. the shop uses the lighter "smoke" color instead of the darker "charcoal". They stopped using the darker for that reason. Cuz it was hard to see. But with the smoke, the lights are still easily visible, its just more like a cherry red isntead of bright red.
Yea i really guess what shade of vinyl you get. I'm just not so happy with the results that i have seen with vinyl...arouhnd my area at least. People just get it way too dark and i can't see them braking for shit. I have to agree its much easier to apply then spray(well at least correctly). I really like the spray, cuz i still get aweomse light transmission thorugh the paint, but it did take me like 3 attempts to get it perfect
i'd go for vinyls too and thinking of getting lamin-x for the tail lights to attain that cherry/burgundy red color. i dont want to go too dark. cops here in canada are strict on those.
It also depends on which part is being tinted, if say your planning on tinting a smooth and flat surface I would go for viynl simply because its easily reversable. For sharp edges and weirdly shaped corners I would go for spray simply because its much easier and would look cleaner.

go to www.jonstintedtails.com They will tint the lights for $100 plus the cost of shipping back to you (All 4 pieces tinted).
I plan on getting this done very soon (when i tint the windows). They are in Staten Island, NY ... pretty close to me, so i'll just drive ove & get em done.
