So I finally put on the rear emblem I painted a couple months ago. Quick run through on how I did it... Painted it according to the "poor man's black pearl emblems" found on a 4Runner forum. If you do a search I'm sure you could find the write up. Removed the dozen clips holding in the trunk lid trim. Took off the nuts on the studs holding the trim piece covering the license plate lamps, pinched the big white clip in the middle and pulled the thing off. From there I heated the emblem up with a hair dryer and pryed it off rather cleanly with a plastic screwdriver... probably less paint safe, but with the posts there it was a lot easier than fishing line... I bought a new emblem and painted it so putting the new one on was as easy as pulling off the tape and sticking the posts in the holes... put it all together and...
The front one is next... barcelona red backing plate with a black pearl emblem...

You did a nice job with the paint but I would have chosen a different color for the red. In the first pic, the painted emblem was the only thing I was looking at.

Could it be because the thread was called "black pearl rear emblem"?

I agree.
Matching Red would even look better IMO.
The black just stands out too much.
Maybe a black license plate frame and like Camread said paint and put back the SE and Camry would make a better look..
Though I prefer the chrome.
