Gen5 horrible night

so im a date with this gurl and all of a sudden i get pulled over. the cops give me 3 tickets. The first one was that i did not have a copy of insurance in the car. the second one was because of my front windows being tinted and the third one is the most rediculous thing ever.........MODIFIED EXHAUST. i still have all the cats. the only thing i have done is put a magnaflow muffler and took off the resonator.

What are the Los Angeles regulations reguarding exhaust?

and after that the night got worse when i hit a curb with my 20" rims while droping off my date

F$CKing cops have nothing better to do

Your first problem is living in Los Angeles. Secondly, police don't like window tint which is out of compliance and I don't blame them. Dallas just buried a cop yesterday who was killed by a guy in such a car. Go back to the guy who installed the window tine and ask him to pay that ticket.

why is the tint place responsible for that ticket?? they will tint windows however dark YOU want them to. they arent responsible for your decision.

Mike,
Oh dude...I am sorry to hear that.
It is the end of the month....I think cops have certain tickets to give in a certain month.
It's like if he normally give out 30 tickets a month and within the last few days of the month he will give out a lot to make sure he will be within the reasonable range between 28 to 32 tickets if 30 tickets is his average. That is just my guess so becareful during those days near the end of the month.
Hope things will go better for you soon.

2/3 of those are just fix-it tickets, and the one with the insurance is probably a small fine.

I believe the law in California regarding exhausts is that it must conform to CARB standards (meaning that you cannot remove the cats) and the exhaust must be under 95 dB in sound level. Luckily, my TRD exhaust came with a CARB certificate that also certifies the sound level, so if I get pulled over for it, which is unlikely considering how quiet it is, all I have to do is flash the little certificate.

For the tint, nothing you can do about it. Thats why I got my fronts done pretty light. 50% in the front, 15% in the rear. Just gotta go and get it taken off in the front, and then after you get the fix-it ticket cleared, go get it back on if you want.

And gdanaher is wrong. You cannot go after the person who installed the tint. The act of putting tint on a car in the front windows is not illegal in California. The act of driving with it is. On top of that, you told them to make it a certain darkness. Its just like buying a gun... its not illegal to buy one, or to sell one. But you can't go out and start using it everywhere, and if you get busted for it, its not like you can go after the retailer who sold it to you because it was his fault.

Sorry 'bout the tickets, man. But the more you modify, the more careful you're gonna have to be. Cops don't take well to modified cars, especially here in CA.

I am sorry to hear about your tickets man. Unfortunately, they are all fair game - especially the missing insurance one.

Here in Toronto, we have lots of really old Civics with terrible modifications and a Folgers-size fartcan. These people usually get pulled over for noise. I know in your case, it's far from a fartcan, but the cops don't make this difference.

There are some mods which simply might not be worth it I guess. The thing about the tint doesn't surprise me either. This friend of mine has a Mazda3 which has 20% tinting in the rear and front. Last year, he received a "fix it" ticket for this. With tinting it's best to stay within the legal limit because there really isn't much difference between 20% and 30%. But in the latter case you'll be legal every time (at least in my province where fronts are allowed, too).

I would normally suggest fighting these tickets, but they're not traffic offenses...

YEa...dude..once you modify your car...its just a magnet for fix it tickets. It is illegal to drive with tints on your front window in CA. The only thing that you can do, is remove the tint. THe thing is the only way you can have the tinter pay for the ticket, is if he never warned you about not being responsible for putting on illegal % of tint. IF he did warn you, or it is stated somewhere in your receipt...then mike...you're just SOL

my biggest concern is the exhaust ticket. i still have stock headers and both stock cats. my magnaflow muffler is not that loud. if i go to the CHP office and tell them that maybe they will write me off? anyone knows how it has to be?

The thing that pisses me off is that when i was pulled over i did not gun the car and started from a red light. there is no way my exhaust could have been loud at all.

I had a really hot gurl with me too. i though that would help me out but it didnt. lol I hope they never get laid again

How can the girl possibly help your case? I think you have a much higher chance of leniancy when you're alone.

The insurance Ticket, i think you could get that fixed by faxing over your insurance papers to the DMV or something. i remember when my friend got pulled over for speeding and he was nervous and gave the cop an Expired Insurance Card and the cop said hes going to give him a Expired Insurance Ticket which you could fix with the correct document and provided a phone number aswell. that was the only ticket he got, cause he got away with the speeding, which he got lucky. But thats just down here in NYC dont know about LA and all depends on the cop/trooper and like some said, its the end of the month.
