Gen6 Anyone with Michelin MXV 4 Plus tires....

make their tires scream when making a right turn at 25 MPH???

I didn't hear it even with the front windows down, stereo off, and fan turned off, but apparently I broke traction and got a ticket for it. Apparently my "tires were screaming" and I was "going at least 35 MPH."

I was in 3rd and the RPMs were less than 2000 RPM - I know this because I down shifted to 3rd right before the turn. My speedo says 30 MPH in 3rd when the tachometer shows 2000 RPM. I can't reach 35 MPH until about 2200-2300 RPM. I know it was 3rd because I couldn't have shifted into any other gear. I wasn't pressing the gas until near the end of the turn and the tachometer was at about 1800 or 1900 at the end.

I have Michelin MXM4 Tires and I know that my tires squeal a bit if turning and accelerating or if I am just turning at higher speeds. I think these tires are terrible and I am planning a swap this summer.

I have those tires on my Camry. I also had them on my old Echo in 14" size. I don't understand why you people bad-mouth them. They are excellent all-around tires.

They get good grip in the rain, dry and they're quiet. If you're squealing, that's simply because 268hp is too much for a FWD car.

If you want BAD tires, look no further than the Bridgestone Turanzas or the Goodyear Eagle RS-A. Now THOSE are terrible tires. The Turanzas wear out quick, and the Goodyears ensure your car loses grip when taking aggressive turns even in the dry.

We've got MXV4 Plus tires on my mom's Camry..and I noticed the same thing. The tires howl in mild driving. As far as traction - wet traction sucks, even a few years ago when the tires were new. I would definitely not get these tires again especially considering how much more they cost than the many other standard 15-16" tires.

BTW, I didn't know you could get a ticket for your tires screeching like that? Sure your tires screeched but the cop knows you weren't speeding around a bend going 60, you know? And you're driving a Camry for goodness sake! The other day I was getting annoyed cause the traffic light was out at a small but fairly busy 3-way intersection and the other cars were doing whatever the hell they felt like (instead of treating it like an all-way stop) - so when I had the chance I sped away, my tires screeched, and when I looked back there was a cop in one of those scooter things. He kept going straight while I turned.. I think it's to my advantage I drive something like a Camry, where cops seem to not even notice it.

i agree.
the MX-V4s were all round shitty tired.
horrible in snow and rain. i experienced the same screeching at low speed turns.
the only thing good about them is that they were quiet and tread wear was not too bad.

I have Michellin Pilot HX MXM4 and they are great tires, very soft, some squeaking on those shiny parking lots but that's it, I haven't drive on the rain yet, so I can't tell, but so far great tires..
And about the tikets the cop will need to prob the theory that if the tire screams It's because you were doing 35, Go to the judge and fight the ticket..

Good luck

I am so glad to have gotten rid of those tires. Ugly Side Walls, Squealed a lot, poor light snow traction!

Now the Toyo Proxes 4 on the other hand are GREAT so far!! I TRIED as hard as I could and couldn't squeal these babies! SO much better than the stock skins! Not sure if it's the tire itself or the fact that these are 1.5 inches WIDER than the stock tires & rims ... but I am liking the Toyos!

I'm not a big fan of those tires, I have driven them in the rain and snow. They Don't handle like the Toyo Proxes I have now. But they are better than the stock tires that come on the car.

Why are they so expensive anyway? My friend needed a new tire ASAP on her car so we went down to Sam's Club and they had a Michelin X-Radial for $55 in 205/65/15 with an 80K mile warranty. Those are going to be my next set of tires.

When I first got the car they were worse but they have gotten better as time has gone along. I had some bad experiences during the winter with them when I was away at school in PA. There was about 4-5 in. of snow and slush on the floor. I took a turn, taking my time doing about 5 mph. Car went sideways.... luckily for VSC that kicked in and straightened the car back out. Main point was that the slip was really unexpected since i was taking my time.

I havent gotten any squeal recently though.... or maybe its the music covering it up for me.
What do you guys think of these tires?

If you're not on a budget, go with Toyo T1-R.
