JVC NX500: DVD, GPS, 40 GB HD for 07 Camry

http://reviews.cnet.com/JVC_KD_NX500...?tag=pdtl-list

What do y'all think of this little unit? Its screen is a bit undersized but it's currently the highest rated nav/dvd unit in its class.

Thinking of purchasing this over the Pioneer, Eclipse, Alpine units that are already out on the market.

Anybody have experience with JVC products and reliability?

The cheapest I've found it was 700-800 on ebay. The unit offers a TON of options compared to the other units on the market. With a 40 GB, harddrive it seems that it would be a steal.

Thanks in advance..

CNET gave that units its Editor's Choice award and CNET rating is pretty reliable in my opinion. So yeah, go for it.

Trojan could you back that statement up? I called crutchfield and they are telling me it's single din. Looking at it there seems to be no way but that's what they are saying.

My bad. It's actually an undersized screen compared to the ECLIPSE AVN AND Pioneer AVIC.
Crutchfield sells a 2007 Camry conversion kit for it.

One of the things that stands out in my opinion is the screen size. I personally would not feel comfortable with that but to each his own. The other brands have screens that now are almost double the size of that screen. The newer Eclipses have 6.95'' screens if I'm not mistaken and so does the Kenwood unit which I currently have. The JVC unit only has 3.5'' screen.

I guess with a price like that you have to take a loss somewhere. Good luck.

Edit: Also judging from the way it appears as well as the comment on Cnet about the unit being irregularly shaped, I would have to agree with the person above who said it is more like 1 1/2 din length instead of 1 din. With that being said, the the Scosche dash kit will probably not work correctly since it is designed for 1 din or 2 din headunits. It would probably need a custom install to look right.
