07 Camry Front License Plate Mounting Question

Hello all,

I am new to the forum, and very recently purchased a new 07 Camry XLE V-6 for the wife. We live in a state that requires front license plates on the cars.

Does anyone know of a bracket that can be used to mount a front license plate, instead of screwing the license plate directly into the front bumper? I don't want to permanently damage the front bumper with screw holes, just in case I ever move out of this lovely state.

I have a Scion tC that has the same issue with mounting the front license plate into the bumper. I did find a aluminum mounting bracket that is secured to the lower grille, and that is what I am using on the tC. I am hoping to find one for the Camry.

I do realize that one can be made for the car, however, I do not have the time or inclination to fabricate one myself.

Any assistance in this matter would be most appreciated.

I presently have just the license plate secured to the front bumper via two selftapping screws. The dealer I purchased my 2007 V6 Camry LE offered a cheap plastic frame with their dealership name prominently plastered on the frame. Nixed the idea about doing free advertising hence I'm shopping around until I find something I like. Like yourself, I live in NY state where 2 plates are required and ocassionally when I visit malls in Long Island, many of the other people tend to "park by sound" which eventually will take it's toll on both front and back bumpers not to mention your front license plate. If you go with a stout metal plate each impact will take more and more paint off the bumper.

There is a bracket. Thats what is on that picture, and it is on my car. BUT the braket comes with long screws, they go thru plate, braket and bumper.

I am looking for some type of bracket that will NOT require me to drill holes in the front bumper.

I do realize that the two dimples on the front bumper are for mounting the plate, however I am trying to avoid doing this to my car. I am planning on moving from TX at some point in the future. I would really like to AVOID having two screw holes in the front bumper.

The bracket I am referring to would attach to the lower grille, and does NOT attach to the front bumper itself in any way. NO SCREW HOLES, .

If anyone knows of a bracket like this, please let me know.

Where'd you get the Toyota Bracket? Did it come with your car? Honda puts those brackets in the trunk with the spare tire, but I have not looked at my wife's car to see if Toyota put one there. It's not with me at present, or I would run out and look.........

I've heard of it being included with cars but I had to mail order mine using the part number.

I got one off ebay that screws into the bottom of the bumper cover so you can't see the holes. Search for JDM license plate relocator. The buyer i got mine from was JDMrobot. I never installed it because i drive around without one anyways but it would work and the holes would NOT be visible.

That bracket will probably put scratches on the bumper cover.

The Toyota bracket 52114-06030, lists for 15 bucks and can be had from any of the online dealers for 10.75 to 15 bucks plus ups. It will put holes in the bumper. Most states require a front plate anyway, but Texas is the only state in Gulf States that actually does, so they didn't include the bracket. I got mine from Metroplex Toyota. They had to order but had it promptly.

sigma chi3, Texas requires front and rear plates. What I did was put a rubber faucet washer between the the plate and bumper to keep the plate from scrtching the paint.

you purchased your car at a dealer ? dont they usualy put the plates on for you? since your state requires it shouldnt they be doing it to all cars? or did you buy the car out of the state

I didn't want the dealership to put my plates on for me. Didn't even have them detail the car before I took it home. I prefer to do those things myself.

The washrack guy with the cordless drill and self tapping screws does not care at all if the paint on the front bumper of the cars is scratched, etc...

I am more concerned about the holes that must be drilled into the bumper to mount the plate than I am about scratches. If I ever move out of Texas (quite possible), I don't want to have two nasty holes in my front bumper when I remove my front plate.

just use doublesided tape to attach the plate to the bumper. use good quality tape, the type they use to install spoilers. i have never done it but its worth a try. use lots of tape so that the plate doesnt come off.
